rear brake problem
Hi guys, i was jugglin around and found this thread about the `infamous` rear brake problem, extensively treated in several other italian forums.
Im from Italy an got a friend of mine working for a local Aprilia reseller so i have the chanche to get a lot of unofficial info directly form the Aprilia factory, that id like to share with u.
I have a 2005 rsv and have had a lot of headaches with this rear brake, as every other rsv owner.
I tried to fix it but was able only to make it work for a month, forcing the air out of the fluid circuit, holding the caliper higher than the pump.
The interesting thing is that Brembo actually fixed the problem giving the method to the aprilia resellers.. but they seems not to care about that.
The solution is to pull out the plastic joint of the pump (the one with the rubber tube going to the fluid reservoir )with two opposing flat screwdriver, and to enlarge the hole of both sides of the joint with a drill spike of exactly 4,5mm.
Then , reassembly all and change all the fluid keeping the caliper as high as you can over the pump level, using a lot of DOT4 to be sure that is no air left.
this is the fifth time i do this, but the first after the joint mod, and now the rear brake works like a charm, and it is absolutely not gradually loosing as it use to do the other times.
I hope it will hold, an if you are desperate as was I, you can try also this before to spend money changing the whole pump.
happy to help you,
Rafz
