Rear Brake Hanger problems

D

Well just when things were going so well with my rebuild I have hit the **** house wall again.

I was taking the two rear brake caliper bolts out of the back brake hanger and one has stripped the thread totally.

So what are my options apart from a brand new rear brake hanger.

Can it be helicoiled? to repair?

Anything than more new purchasing!:dunno

A heli-coil repair is as good if not better than the original thread, can't see any reason why you couldn't repair the rear brake hanger.

You can buy kits off Flea-Bay for reasonable prices.

It's a piece of cake to do as well, plenty of how to videos on You Tube if you're unsure how to do a heli coil repair.

I am taking it to work mate, Let the engineering shops deal with it!

As above mate, recoils are stainless steel, and are much stronger than the original alloy.

same thing happened with my 99 mille, I ended up buying a replacement from ebay. never had any luck with the heil coil stuff.

To keep me going until I managed to find one I refitted the caliper and applied Lock tight. think it was 270, the red stuff. left for 24 hours to set and bugger did I have a problem getting the bolts off when it came to fitting the new one :)

worth a try bud
