Rear Brake Caliper

Hi,

Quite new to the forum having only recently bought myself a RSV Mille SP (2000).

Having just bought the bike and not used to the Harris rear sets that's been fitted, I was accidentally resting my foot on the rear brake coming home via the Motorway. Needless to say things got quite hot and the pads eventually melted themselves to the disc and brake fluid started spitting out the caliper.

I've done lots of searches and understand KTM offer parts for the Brembo caliper so could probably get away with new seals and pads but have also been in contact with Harris Performance who sell the complete Brembo caliper with pads for only £65 (£77 inc vat) which I thought was pretty reasonable. I emailed Harris and they quickly replied assuring me it's the same unit and would fit my bike. Just wondered if you guys thought this was a good price for a brand new brembo caliper + pads or if anyone has bought from Harris before and can confirm it's a perfect match for a 2000 RSV Mille?

Thanks in advance!

Disc should be ok but will be sure to take it off and check on a flat surface!

just rotate the wheel and use a screwdriver held to the swing arm caliper etc so its just a fraction off the disc and watch the disc for movement in the disc .

or if you put new pads in and the's a tight spot your disc is warped.

Harris are a good company and that seems a bargain for a spot on product, at that price I'm thinking of getting one just as a spare as they fit quite a lot of bikes I think

Wow...You had a rear brake that worked? :biggrin

Haha, yeah - worked too well if you ask me!

Thanks for the advice folks, seems like it's a good buy and for my own peace of mind I'll just get a new caliper off Harris instead of buying seals and pads and trying to fix my original unit.

Thanks again!
