Rear axle nut

I've just taken a quick look and notice that after the tyre fitting, the nut is on the sprocket carrier side, whereas the manual shows it being on the disc side. I must admit, i've never checked the manual before when doing simple chain adjustment, so it has never crossed my mind that it might be on the wrong side. The nut has certainly been on the sprocket carrier side since the day I got the bike.

Spoonz, LEGS, anyone tell me if it makes a deal of difference? :dunno

The nut should be on the brake disc side Caterpillar. Just reverse the spindle but you need to make sure the ally spindle spacers are correct way around too with the non nut end of the spindle fitting into correct recessed space of the spindle spacer. Torque for the rear wheel nut is 120Nm or 88lb/ft

To be honest Colin, I can't lay the blame with them really. As I say, the axle nut was on the sprocket carrier side from the day I collected the bike, and other than torque setting, which i'd given them when I got there, I wouldn't overly expect them to know :thumbup

I've swapped it over now, still, curious as to whether there is any side effects to it being the wrong way round, as I haven't felt any.

You're a kinder man than I, Gunga Din!
No matter whether it was on the wrong way round, I would have expected them to put it back together correctly. But that's just me...
I always supposed the nut was on the disc side so that the motion of the wheel tended to tighten it rather than the opposite - or am I being daft?
:dunno
