Hey Guys

a mates been round and we must have now gone through a litre of brake fluid trying to bleed my back brake. We have checked out the instructions on here and tied the back brake up to roughly level with the seat. We then pump and pump and pump, each time blocking the bleed hole with our thumb until no air bubbles out yet, when we put it all back together again, the rear is as weak as a weak thing. :confused

We have also blead the front of the MC and no air appears to be in this part either.

We must have spent several hours now on what should be a dead simple job....

any clues? Thanks in advance!!!

Its an 07 RSV-R.

fit a ring spanner to the nipple hex, then a piece of tubing to the nipple, put some break fluid in a bottle and submerge the tubing end ( always keep this submerged during the bleed process..eg pump and hold brake lever, crack nipple slightly, then reseat nipple, release break pedal. Do this process a number of times..ensure you have a spacer inbetween yer caliper brake pads the same thickness or a little larger than the rear rotor thickness. Keep the bleed nipple at the highest point at all times.
Good luck with it.

Sometimes to actually get the caliper bled out correctly you have to slightly depress the rear brake lever whilst injecting brake fluid in to the system via the caliper bleed nipple.

Make sure the bleed nipple is cracked open enough too!

The most important bit is to make sure the nipple is at the highest point because the air bubbles will go to the top so in effect the caliper is upside down.

Put a spacer in between the pads as well and make sure you have the push rod adjusted up with just a minimal clearance so you get full travel on the piston.

Or over adjust the rod so you get no return then after it is bled then adjust to the correct clearance.

Do this and you should have an excellent brake.:thumbup

Given you're London based, if you don't get it sorted then ride over to Southern Cross Motorcycles in Kilburn and get them to sort - just be sure to watch and learn!

Nice bike.
