Coz I live in France they have a stupid 106 bhp limit rule.

The bike I bought from a guy here has derestricted it ( like nearly all french Bikes)

I want to put back to 1O6 bhp for the time being.

the airbox has been modded and the silencer baffle taken out. and the Green ECU wire cut, So If I reconnect the green wire how much will i loose power wise with all the other mods done?

Really a case of put back for insurance purposes.

Thanks

Tim

Bugga...how long is a piece of string? No easy way to carve back the HPz and keeping it running sound. You could try restricting airbox again, and a std muffler for start. I would think if you rejoined the ECU wires that map one would have to be reselected. I would try air and exhaust first. Spoonz would be the fellow on this site that may have some better ideas than i. Cheers and good luck.

You will have to patient, people can be busy..but i am sure if he reads your predicament, his advice would be given. The RSVzone is a very friendly site Tim, many members have a wealth of knowledge regarding the Aprilia RSVz :thumbup

No rush intended

Your spot on with regards to wealth of information. Saturday night i trawled through 36 pages of thread and finished at 4am!!! lol

I have already said to Spoonz that he really is da man regarding RSVs. He should really start up a decent Aprilia garage somewhere.

Hi Tim, being curious, how do they assess/roadside check/insurance check the 106bhp limit in France? If it is rear wheel measured horsepower, would it be worth your while getting the bike dyno'ed and having yourself a print out of the bhp as proof? :dunno

Very good question.

My Brother in law has a VFR 800 and that passes apparently due to it being 106 bhp.

I think like everyhting in France you havent really got a problem until you have a problem. I think the Insurance assesor here look into things a bit more deeply if someone is injured or killed.

Stupid rule IMHO, Although the road injuries, deaths are coming down. But that is due to more Gendarmes on the roadside.

Yep i've been grafting whilst you all sun yourself in out glorious summer.

Honest answer is i'm not sure how much restriction in terms of power is in the chip itself.

I suspect not much.

I think it's more of a remap to alter the fueling for the restricted air flow from the airbox and exhaust rather than an outright attempt at cutting power electronically.

The best way to kill an engines output is through restricted airflow so my guess is 75% is from the exhaust and airbox.
