Hi guys from new member,

Bought by 2002 Mille the other day and have noticed when accelerating from around 2000 revs in 3rd gear there is a rattle / vibration. It happens in that gear only and not in neutral ??

Wondering if its just the belly pan / chain or somit else vibrating at that particular frequency produced at that rev range and gear ?

Does anyone have this or suffered this ?

Cheers,

my guess is it's the chain. First thing to do is to lube the chain and then adjust it correctly, then give it a try

i has a similar thing years back and the noise was from the v piece in front of the rad, it has a foil glued to the back of it, this was loose and causing a noise that sounded like a rattle, it does not sound like a problem to worry about to be honest

2000 revs in third gear is your problem should be in second or first, that chattering your hearing is the chain slapping i couldn ride my ape in third at 2000 revs it would be vibrating and slapping the chain....what did u used too ride,,,, vtwin is a different monster too get used too ,,,,,,,,,,alot off torque in these mchines... you can alter the gearing too make them easier too ride .....

I ride an 02 also and the REVs is the issue. Mine shudders its head of if you try to pull from low down. only accelerate hard from 5 upwards mate and it shall solve the problem. Cheers jonny

Ha, never noticed the accelerating from 2000 revs bit, therein lies your problem, you should be in 2nd, not to good labouring the motor like that either, use more revs before you try and give it a fist of throttle, or just ride it like you stole it:devious

Mine was the same and as stated didn't happen at higher revs.
My problem was it seems the plates in the clutch basket moving around as renewal and stiffer EBC springs WEMOTO.COM cured it. Tighten your drive chain first though as its cheaper:)
