Yep I have just spent today putting a hole new set of threads in my OZ wheels because they are made out of cheese.

That's NOT good............should Aprilia be informed, does not "look fit for purpose" in my eyes AND it's a critical safety component....I am going to check mine tomorrow before I ride it....Fook.....:exclamation

That needs to be looked at by an Aprilia Tech. Is there any previous front end accident history ?

Bloody hell mate what forks are they?

they look like (ok they are) the ohlins matey - can see by the ali finish on the caliper hanger and it also looks like its the same side as the axel mount that cracks, Aprilia will just fob it off as either not using it correctly or that they look like accident damage. Hey buffalo, did you add the forks to your bike (as in not stock) as you're sporting a brembo front wheel?

danglee :thumbup

hi lads, I bought the bike as salvage 3 years ago, its a factory model but previous owner or someone had changed wheels to brembo before it ended up in salvage yard. There ohlins forks and the caliper mounts were replaced about 2 year ago by k-tech due to pinch bolts being overtightened causing small cracks across the front just above pinch bolts. I have done few trackdays and used it hard most of the time I have had it, but it has had no accident damage since I have owned it. I cant figure out how this crack has happened, cant see what or where any force can come from to crack that part of caliper mount?

the Ape spec ohlins from 04 on are like cheese matey - its poor show really :rant

I've bought a set and they have the pinch bolt break - pisses me off :rant

yeah agree with you buffalo - I can't see what stresses would cause that either

Oem Ohlins = Made in Japan.

Proper Ohlins = Made in Sweden.

Probably that crack follows an imperfection in the casting like an air pocket.
Plenty of people track with Radial Ohlins and that's the first i have heard of a crack at that point.

as the bike has been writted off i doubt that your gonna get any joy from Aprilia but K tech probably need to be told ...thats an odd one for sure, ive never seen that one!

the forks are good gear (normally) the cracks on the fork legs around the pinch bolts are just the result normally of people over tightening the pinch bolts...the torque settings are really low to my memory its around 12-18 NM for the M6 bolts which is not a lot really but some neanderthal tyre fitters dont obviously give a shitzter and wang them bad boys up! shame really!

best of luck mate!
