Can anyone tell me what size mesh sheet i would need to cover a rad, take it they are both the same size, and also what size for oil cooler.Saves me taking bike to bits in this cold weather, size in cm would be great.
I have brought some trim edge and wont to make some mesh guards now i know the price to replace these items.

No need to dismantle any of the bike to take this measurement.

All you need to do is to measure the actual size of the matrix for the rad and the same for the oil cooler.

No need to make the covers so big that they cover all the rad and oil cooler.

From memory I used 3 sheets which measured 25cm x 25cm and 2m of that ribber edging material.

Measure the rads and add 6 cm to this and there we go you will have your mesh amount

Hi Guys,

I added in my response that I used 3 sheets of mesh that measured 25cm x 25cm each.

If you are careful and make no mistakes then you'll get away with a sheet 75cm x 75cm, you'll still have enough left over from this sheet if you make a mistake to have another go at the oil cooler.

My tip is to do the rads first then do the oil cooler.

PS. I decided to add some wire retainers to mine just in case the vibrations from the bike caused them to break free.

I just grabbed some electrical wire, removed the insulation and used three strands of copper to secure the grille to the radiator/oil cooler.

Hi guys
i made some guards up for my bike found the mesh at B&Q of all places they have a large selection of patterns, gauges and colours and if i remember right it only cost me 6 or 7 quid ! One sheet is big enough to do both rads and oil cooler, i secured them in place using gardening wire and theyve never budged job done just B&Q it !!!!

Thanks

Do you reckon they would sell?

I reckon I could do them for around £25 a set plus delivery costs.

:confused Thats just plain fence mesh, thought they did some in gold and other colours.I went to the big store in nottingham and could not find any only plain fence mesh.Been looking on ebay can not find gold mesh there too.

There's another thread about these guards, I took the quote below from one of my earlier posts.

It seems the mesh is so well hidden in B & Q that even the staff don't know about it. LOL

Here's where the mesh is located in the B & Q stores:[/QUOTE]
