Race ECU or not?

I'll get my 2016 Tuono 1100 factory, with Akrapovic, in a few weeks. I have looked at different dealers. One dealer tells me I do not need a race ECU with the 1100 and an other tells me I do. Who is right?

You do not need the race ecu..if your Akra has the straight through pipe instead of the cat pipe, my understanding is you will need the unlock code which should come with your pipe to remap the ecu.
Careful with the race ecu, someone here on the forum recently had Aprilia not warranty a claim, because they had the race ecu..

I plan on purchasing the Akra using the cat pipe, which will not require a remap or race ECU..

Thanks :thumbup . I'll be using the cat pipe aswell.

Yes you need the ECU flash via the Akro dealer code or purchase the ECU for the 1100 ,they run very lean stock and leaner with any slip on. I've dynoed mine already. And no one had been knocked back on warranty with the race ecu, that thread on AF1 has nothing official regarding this issue, nothing conclusive there at all.
Any Aprilia ECU used on your bike will be covered with warranty, a PCV or Bazzaz won't. I've been through all this with Aprilia Australia and these are the facts I've been given. I have this in an Email so that's good enough for me.
Street bikes are covered, If you're racing it, no it's not covered. No shock there.

Ok just to clarify if you use the included cat pipe you Don't need the remap or race ECU..I'm sure we can get several different answers to this question..but officially according to the two dealers and two different Aprilia mechanics I asked, stated you only need the race ecu or remap if you use the straight through pipe instead of the cat pipe..

The stock ecu flash is very lean. Use the reflash with all slip ons. You will gain much more than just richer fueling, the QS is sharpened up as are the three switchable maps etc..

Is it possible to get the code to flash the ecu for any end can? I mean, can you buy the code separately without paying the outrageous price for the Akra?

Yes, either buy an Aprilia race ecu or send your ecu to Gabro to get it flashed with the latest version

Don't know if this has been circulated before.
There is a later updated race map available as from early December 15.
Aprilia have a promotion on at present for the Akra slip-on with the 2 option link pipes for £800, all in.

Still Gab's remap @ €330 inc return postage sounds a good deal if you factor in £320 for an arrow gp2 tail pipe.

All I can say from experience you wont regret a race map! on a 2012 model and not getting into detail the dealer messed up at service time and put a standard map back onto my ECU. Hated the bike! lost it mojo etc. Dealer sorted a new code got race map back yes!!!... back to its old self.... more snappy etc I can tell.

Ok its not great low revs in race mode and a little rough at certain low revs as some point out by hey its a RACE mapping what do you expect!!! enjoy love to know what these 1100 are like with the mapping...

FYI at my last service I took one of the new 1100 factorys out. I will say handling you could feel the difference (might be due to my shot tyres!) and the extra CC but mine felt stronger through the gears with race map...
