Sad news boys and girls, my bike is having a heart transplant, service and suspension set up. :no the bike is off the road for a couple of weeks, so any cards of condolance would be appreciated :biggrin anyway if anyone can help bring the old beast back to life, ideas are always welcome :thumbup

Why what's up with it?

Well to cut a long story short danf, the gear box has all but given up, theres virtually no second gear,it handles like a sack of ***** and is in desperate need of new spark plugs and air filter:thumbup

Apart from that its running like a dream than!

Sounds expensive for sure danf.. the big thing i'd think is you gotta find someone you can trust to do the work.

unless doing it yourself i would get a donor engine. You can pick up a nice one for £450. The labour on a rebuild might be that on it's own.

If i were splittling cases i would doing bearings etc so as not to have to revisit later which is going to cost a tidy sum together with he other work.

Fear not ladies and gents. the work is being done by a good friend who has years of experience, and has done loads of work on my old bikes in the past, im hoping the engine will cost me around 300 quid, as its cheaper labour than having the engine split an the gearbox an other bits replaced etc:thumbup

sorry to hear

well mate we r both in the same boat so we can console each other together, my rsvr gave up the ghost 2 months ago and the cypriot thief who did it is not taking any responsibility. Little1uk has put me in touch with southern cross motorcycles who are gonna do the work for me :doug with a bit of luck should be back on the road in couple of month:biggrin:biggrin:biggrin

Good luck to both of you! From many other posts it seems that the folks at Southern Cross are first rate. Here's hoping they live up to their rep.:thumbup
