took the bike out today, running sweet as a nut,
absolutely bang on and flying like a good un.
only niggle is the usual pants italian electrics.:jack:rant
the neutral light is lit all the time, just started today, any one
else had this or heard of a fix please, its a right pain at traffic lights ect,
it usualy acts the tit to get into neutral but im used to that and a few flicks up and down the box usualy has it,but now its even harder without the light to help you find it ffs.:confused
cheers if anyone can shed any light:thumbup

its just been changed mate, was done monday.
im not worried about that tbh mate, its just that even while riding in 5th ect the neutral light is lit up?!
any ideas anyone?

It's not the neutral switch obviously or it wouldnt run. Can only be that the wire between the neutral switch and the back of the clocks is earthing out somewhere. Has yer bike got wet recently?

First thing I would look at is the connections on the neutral switch under the front sprocket. Its just 1 wire i think.

Good call. thats the first thing I would check.

well i washed it friday but didnt run it till sunday so sumat could av gotten wet mate?!
what will have happened if its caused by sumat gettin wet mate?
and the front sprocket was changed last week so if the wires down there it could have gotten disturbed or trapped?

Well water is a very common cause of earth problems. Drips collecting in connecter blocks etc. check that wire from top to bottom. I am certain the problem will be found there.:thumbup

cheers buddy, ill give it a check over 2morrow mate.
thanks for the help/info.

No worries bro, it really can only be that wire or it's connections. Unless anyone else has any idea but that has to be it.

Well the first thing i would do is disconnect it at the bottom. Then if the neutral light goes out with it in gear you have a good starting point. Then use a continuity tester (if you have one) and try and locate the other end of the wire at the rear of the instrument cluster (there is a lot of wires going in there ). Then once you have done that get a new piece of wire and connect it at the bottom and at the rear of the cluster. (This may be a little fiddly). Now check for proper operation of the light. Of course by tinkering with the connector blocks etc you may find the problem anyway. Just had a looksie at the wiring diagram and the wire is black and pink i think.

Thinking about it tho you should only use this as a test and not a fix cos you will be bypassing the starter interlock circuit and disable the side stand switch. (I think. Just had a barbie and the beer is clouding my brain):confused

The wire does still go through the starter interlock so its a different colour at the bottom to at the back of the clocks.

thanks buddy,your a star,
brighter than me even after a bbq and some tinnys lol.

looks like im leaking a bit of clutch fluid exactly were that neutral light cable is near the front sprocket cover as the clutch was a pig and wunt let me start the bike earlier till i set the clutch lever to number 4 setting.so hopefully once the clutch leak is sorted the neutral light will be too.
had a great ride tho, shes goin like the clappers!:thumbup

true mate, for all the problems these milles give,it worth it cos theyre just so fantastic to ride.
