Just wondering if any of you guys can share your wisdom with me. My new to me 2013 TV4 looks to have a straight through exhaust on it as I can't see any cat type bulges on the pipe anywhere (I could of course be looking in the wrong place or making an incorrect assumption about a bulge). It also looks to have the flapper disconnected but again I can't be sure (please see pictures). If I'm right in thinking that this is a race pipe, even with the baffle in, is there anyway I can see if the race ecu map has been installed e.g. Just look for the T mode???
I'm concerned that if in not running this mode, as I tend to run sport, then I might damage the bike.

yup race pipe looking at the link pipe and yes flapper cables are off the flapper, if it just says T mode and not t and race on the dash then your ecu is still stock!

Thanks for the reply. Is there anything I need to be worried about? I've heard the EU bikes don't run as lean but I don't want to leave anything to chance.

If you don't have the stock exhaust fitted you don't any longer have a cat as it is in the exhaust itself.

That is unless you are running the catted Akrapovic, then you would see a bulge in the link pipe about midway between the headers and the can.

If your bike has been race mapped you will see the word "Race" on the dash in the lower left quarter

This is not very clear, but you can see the word race on mine.

Yep just went to have a look Rizla and it doesn't have "race" on the display and so I don't think it's been flashed. The pipe is a ti Leo Vince can with the baffle in.

How do you know it's fine Blade, have you had it dyno'd or checked the plugs etc?
Thanks

if your worried get a power run done, mine was accually rich when i had air/fuel ratio checked, even richer with race ecu! my hacked ecu felt smoother and had less snatch than the aprilia race ecu,
if your running baffle your proberly fine,

Can I remap the stock ecu on a Dyno run or am I looking at getting a PCV?

Well it has had 9000 miles of abuse runs fine always doesn't miss a beat and has a oxygen sensor so will self correct to a point and im not bothered about chasing 2 more HP

A stock ecu can be remapped if the dealer has the knowhow, however most Aprilia dealers don't.

You can add a piggyback unit like the PCV or Bazazz, get the official Aprilia race ecu or have yours flashed by someone like Gabro.

It's entirely up to you.

your easiest option is a race ecu, get some cables download guzzi diag for throttle learning, order your ecu, disable flapper and forget about it!

My TV4 has a Austin Racing exhaust, Not had the Race map innstalled nor been remapped.

Crescent motorycles put it on the dyno to check CO levels for me, all was fine, Not lean. The Bikes sniffer is doing its job perfectly.

Id put the exhaust on and leave it, My flapper valve is still connected too, doesn't bother me much.

Enjoy the noise!

Thats a savings of about 1k. Would have liked to see the difference between having both ecus.

I have just put an Austin Racing GP1 on my 2016 1100 and when I rang my local Aprilia dealer to get the bike booked in for a race ecu to be fitted I was told that it wasn't needed if only a using a slip on as the bikes oxygen sensors were more than capable of making any adjustments needed....they could have quite easily taken my money but strongly advised against fitting one...at some point I will get it on a dyno, but for now just enjoying the sound and looks as is.

Good for you. Both my dealer and Af1 recommended either race Ecu or sending it out for mods. But I had a friend that said same thing that you speak. I was alway skeptical. Afraid of bike running to lean. But what would happen if you road your bike to altitude. Like a car would it not compensate. Would be nice for all of them to be on same page. If i find out its true. I can always put old ecu back on. Im hoping mileage will get better but we'll see. Thanks for the tip. V4's rule.
