ok..front brake pulses intermittantly at medium to high speed..heve read on another forum about the bobbins on the disk should be loose?? mine are rock solid

Is this mod of opening them up and making them loose a good idea?? or should i just send the wife to make some money to buy new ones

i await your sympathetic un sarcastic replys..:nana

Disc bobbins should be able to rotate easily in order for the disc to move araound to bed on the pads.

I cleaned mine with Brake cleaner.

Yes they clog up with brake dust and jam any good brake cleaning spray should sort it and just try turning the bobbins.
Worst thing is warped discs but quite rare unles you have tried to ride off with your disc lock on because that will definately bend them:eek:
If that does happen you can straighten them with a bit of careful application if you remove the calipers put a marker touching the disc and spin the wheel it should touch all the way round if it doesnt adjust by bending until it runs true.
I used to build BMX wheels and straight them it works on exactly the same pinciple just get it to run true without any deviation and your brakes will be fine.
Bobbins jammed up will also give the effect of a warped disc just clean and try sure you will be ok:thumbup

always one with a realy usefull comment thanks stl..as always..lol

had a word with the wife but she dosnt want to help....:dunno

funny how when you ask a woman to help loosen your bobbins she takes it the wrong way...:devious

bobbins

Find something you can put in a drill that fits the bobbin well. Wrap it in something to protect the bobbin and spin her up with a bit of lube added.

I use a step drill bit with a bit of thin innertube round it. Much quicker than spinning them by hand.

thanks guys..guess thats sunday taken care of..spoons how long have you been on this earth to rack up all this knowledge??

Warped Discs! Rare, rare my arse. my zx9r warped about three sets in a year :(
Calipers stripped every 1500k and I mean full strip. thank god thats behind me :)

I had a little pulse on mine until some on here told me about the bobbins. cleaned mine up with brake cleaner and drill. no pulsing. top tip spoonz :)

Yup, I was one click away from ordering new rotors last winter when I decided to give some attention to my bobbins. I just used some WD40 and wedged a flat blade screwdriver in there and spunt them a bit. It made a world of differance. Make sure you don't get any lube on the pads of course. :roll

My m8 had the same with his ZX9 from new but warped discs are not common on brembo discs.:thumbup

Also the ZX9 6 pots were a bad unit not always giving a good lever as seals used to grab and make brakes bind:dunno

Now that is just dirty :D

This fix helps, but if it starts pulsing a little bit again when you are on the road, just squize the brake slowly but hard two times and it should stop for a while :)
