Which Model

Is it modified?

If so, what?

Please ditch the CAPITALS it's the internet equivalent of shouting.

Don't waste your cash - get the ECU swapped over to Map 2 (if it isn't already) at a dealer. Needs the Axone service tool. It will sort it.

Ok V60 Paul,
Was thinking about a PC too. Dont have much idea about map 1 or 2, just had the 2006 1000R for a week. For what reason is this map 2 a better bet or at least an equivelant to a PC ? Currently have Quill EVO 2 cans with no baffles, baffles gettin sent up soon, may fit em maybe not, is map 2 the best bet, baffles in and out ?

OK. (My Theory)

Map 2 is the "track only" ECU programme built in by Aprilia.

The Tuono if set up properly in the Factory would fail all modern emissions standards etc. To get around this they ship it with a lean map, high gearing etc.
But to allow the buyer to enjoy it they include the 15t sprocket, and an ECU map that allows the engine to run richer.

If you take the bike to a decent dealer, get them to swap you to MAP 2 & check the various settings, TB's CO2 etc. The bike will run smoother - especially with free flowing cans, it will get rid of the bad fueling at low throttle/revs that make town riding a royal pain.

With baffles in you will run a little rich, but it will not harm the engine, the V990 likes to run a touch rich. You only need them for MOT and trips to Germany

IMHO a good dealer should swap the sprockets & maps at your 600 mile service.

I have an 08 tuono map 2 akros runs nice .I fitted a power commander and loaded map from dynojet web site , I deffinatley noticed an improvment runs crisper and pulls better to .with bafles in you get better mid range baffles out more top end I need baffles in to pass noise test at castlecombe .also fitted quickshifter the bike is so sweet to ride now.will be getting custom map soon will post results.

Hi there just joined!
Got a Factory, I started with a 15t front sprocket and Map 2 with Akras which was a huge improvement over standard>
I then fitted a PC3 and had it correctly set up on a Dyno. I would say the difference with a PC3 properly set up is almost as much of an improvement as changing from standard to Akras with map 2 and 15t.
Amazing hike in linear power up to max revs. Totally insane acceleration. Totally atrocious fuel consumption.

agreed. the pc will still be an improvement over map 2. I have leo cans without baffles and map 2 and mine still runs rich. i could squeeze several more hp out of it as well as lean it out to get better mileage with a pc, but i am waiting on the pcV to come out for the tuono. Nothing has changed on this bike since 2007.5 so the new pcV should work. it says 2009 only on the dynojet web page simply so they won't have to go back and write maps for older bikes. We have been installing pcV's on numerous bikes older than 2009. All of them have worked as long as nothing electrical changed on the bike.
