hiya,

just looking at power commanders for the old RSV and can only find them for very pricey.

any chance a power commander for another bike will work in an RSV, or are they bike specific?

cheers!

The connectors are specific for the fuel throttle bodies, although other apes might use the same pc.

Best bet is ask griff, he would know for sure.

Dr. Rossi chip came yesterday on mail. Fitting took less than 15mins. I have not had a change yet to test drive it, but no damage done ;) she started fine yesterday. Next week i have the TB and CO setup in local workshop. Then I know more...

fraid not sam pc3 are bike specific!
no way you can get round round that one!

Sorry!
Griff

ok griff thanks matey. only thing is they are hard to find and blimmin expensive..... ffs. dont wanna change the chip cause it can damage the ECU over time and they are one and a half grand.

ill keep looking. scrapyards maybe?

The chip cannot damage the engine !!, where did you get that from ?

my local ape dealer told me they had had three RSVs with the exhaust chips come in on the back of vans with the ECU's knackered??? coincedence?

I think someones pulling your leg mate, there are 100's if not 1000's of folk with changed chips and not a problem amongst them. Even Aprilia themselves provided chips to go with their race cans.

Sure its possible , its also possibly to put them in round the wrong way, it wont kill the ecu but equally the bike wont run either.

If in doubt speak to Griff, Dr Rossi, Dolenc etc etc .

I had on mine Arrow chip now i have one from Dr. Rossi and it feels much better. Just took a 150km test ride.
Dr. Rossis chip
- has more pull around 3000 - > 5000 rmp and it is steady.
- easy mod just be careful you put the chip notched end on the notched side in the chip dock (sorry for my English)
- so far i am satisfied, but lets see when i vet the CO and TB sync set properly by a workshop.
- starts up easier both cold and warm.

I wasted more money in less important things and considering the price tag of this hobby the chip was cheap.

I do not believe that en eprom chip harms the ecu. more or less its like a small computer so its like changing a RAMP chip to your pc.

i've changed the chip and put a pc111 on the bike

a eprom chip is gonna be a cheaper option as a pc111 is arround £200 then to get the best you will want a custom map £130 ish

just depends if you have the money to throw at the bike really

The pc3's do come uip on fleabay quite often for the 98-03's, seen a serial lead version go for under £100 and the usb's go from £160 to £200.

The only difference between the 2 is whether you have a pc with the older serial port on it, if it has, then just wait your time and it will turn up at a price thats good for you.

In the meantime, just keep saving the pennies so you can bid more when one comes up at a price you like.

If it's gonna get set up properly, then it won't matter which you get as the tuning shop can sort it out for you.

If your on a budget,go the chip route & Dr Rossi comes highly recommended on here,& the get your TB's set up,useually costs about £20,chips are easy to change, just make sure you dont use a magnetic screwdriver or something like that,Ive got a proper chip puller from work & a anti static wrist band, but like I said chip & Tb setup, sorted,a PC3 will smooth out the running but on mine I only gained 4 bhp at the top & it buggerd it up below 3k,Pc 3 now removed until I can get Griffs mate to sort it,money allowing & 500 mile round trip

ok guys ill look into this rossi chip thing. i cannot afford a PC unless i get the 11, but there isnt one on there at the moment so ill just go with this rossi thing. if loads of bikes have these chips then i cant see the harm.

cheers!

SAm !
your bike is a 2007?

if it is , you cannot fit these eproms to you bike mate , you need to go the PC3 route im sorry!!

The eproms that the guys speak of is for the 98-2003 model mille and tuono 02 -06 or the old shape bikes with the denso engine management systems on em!

the best thing for you bike is to make sure its switched onto map 2 and the throttle bodies are balanced! and being completely honest with you dude thats the best and cheapest mod , along with adjusting the throttle cable tensions correctly, anyone can make to ther 04 onwards bike !

if its an early bike like the one that was smoking then a chip and throttle body adjust should be the bomb for ya dude!! PC3 will always be the best way to go but im skint too mate!! hehe!!

please mate if you have any queries like this just gimme a call at the shop and i will be more than happy to point you in the right direction!! no worries!!! just keep askin the questions mate knowledge is power!!

cant fault ya!

cheers
GRiffer!
