Now then, I've got an 05 rsv with akra slip ons and running map02. Would a power commander provide any benefit? I see theres a map for it on their website to cover my exact mods so I would guess there would be a benefit? If there is what could I expect and exactly what would I need to buy, i.e. any additional modules, I read something about the 02 sensor etc?

cheers!

Iank i fitted one to my 04 factory and downloaded the map from dynojets web site for akro slip ons amd k&n filter and made a huge difference toruqe now is linear and bike much smoother

as your on map 2 already then there is no need for the 02 sensor

a pc111 is worth the money mate

Sorry to sound dumb but how do I find out what map I am on. Guy I bought the bike from did not know what I was talking about when I asked him. What do I need to know to get the right bits for my bike?

Regards Steve

Only an aprilia dealer will tell you what MAP the bike is running as the bike needs to be plugged into Axone dignostics

MAP1 is for standard cans with catalytic convertors, MAP2 is for open or race cans.

ah right happy days, time to spend some hard earned!
Go for the USB model Power Commander 3, if you get any custom maps done in future it offers greater tuning opportunities than the standard one and you can tune from the header pipes and also have one mapper cylinder.:thumbup

Hello,
Thanks for that. After leaving the question I have looked into, and found out, the nearest power master dealer. Will have a saunter down there at the weekend. Question ? Will I notice the difference or is it just something to tell people when I stop to chat?

Regards Steve

Thanks again for reply. Used to live in Redditch and spent many happy hours around the bends at the bak of the Malverns.

Soz you need to explain slow. Start from a you talking to a five year old as far as mapping goes.

Regards and thanks for replying

I put a PC3 on my bike, downloaded the right map from the website and it lost 4bhp on the dyno compared to the zero map! Then I got a custom map done and got the 4bhp and another 3bhp, more torque and it pick up better thanks to the accelerator pump function.

In other words you need a custom map as mine is now 7 bhp and 4 torques more than with the downloaded map!

Yep that looks pretty good I had mine custom mapped and it only makes what yours did on the lower graph ? Have you done any more mods or is this just another of our Aprilias weird and wonderful tolerance differences ? I have open cans with standard air filter a USB PC3 and the oxygen sensor with the throttle pump settings on standard.
