Power Commander III

I have had power commanders fitted to every bike I have owned with fuel injection. The race bikes both have them and due to engine tuning have both got custom Maps.

I have had a PCIII on the RSVR for a few months and had a downloaded map off the dynojet website. I got the exact map for my bike with Acro Exhausts and Aftermarket airbox. I thought I would put the bike on the dyno and see how well it was running. I bought the bike with a dyno sheet showing 127bhp at the rear wheel. After running it again with the PCIII it was down 5bhp! We set the map to zero and I got the 5bhp back so the powercommander was loosing me 5bhp and not helping anywhere through the rev range!

I now have a custom map which has made it run much better and gains power all the way through the rev range and at all throttle positions. Now running over 132bhp at the back wheel and has more torque.

Just goes to show that just a plug and play system doesn't always help!

Nip the bike down to Frank Wrathalls Mark, my 04 factory with Homer Ewe airbox & k&n filter, standard headers and my own cored cans, air scoop has been smoothed and flapper removed, the bike has 11k miles on it produces this with it custom mapped, check the fat torque at 6-7k RPM

Nice power and torque!

Mine needs another run as I have just had the cans repacked. Mine was down on top-end power due to a serious lack of material in the cans.

Have not been out on it yet V8, tiz my track bike, as you say, packing is critical to power, a can with no packing is loud and affects the performance big time:thumbup

My 02 was custom mapped with twin underseat pipes, I have swapped these for a single exit Devil can so, I need to get a re-map eh?

Any one recommend a dyno dude down Kent way?:dunno

I am getting the best out of my bike that I can really. Even though some dynos read different etc etc I can't argue with the Fuel/Air ratios I am getting and the set up was done spot on using 2%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% throttle positions at 250 rev incriments. My bike has just covered 6,000 miles. Do you think there would be much difference taking it to FW and getting them to set it up?

Yours is getting some good power though! Nice!

TBH i was a bit astounded at the power mine is producing as was Richard at FW, if yours has been set up at those throttle openings and has good A/F ratios i doubt you will see any more, my road Factory is producing this (dyno run below) and was set up at FW, but it has a full 60mm Smaltmoto system, only done 3k miles though and is tight as the guy i bought it from was scared of it
