Hi everyone.

I'm getting a bit ahead of meself here, as I don't currently own an RSV, but I thought I'd stop lurking and introduce myself!
I'm currently a Triumph man, I have a Sprint and a Daytona 955. However, I really fancy changing the Sprint for an RSV, but have yet to ride one. I'm hoping it will go well when I do ride one, as I'm 6'2". It's looking like the R version won't be a go'er for me due to insurance (I live in London and don't have a garage) - only four companies would even quote for the non R version and they all had v high excesses. Both my current bikes are under covers and Allmaxed up.

Budgetwise, I'll be looking at the earlier examples, which seem to be holding their value well, even in these dreadful months! I've been studying the details about the problems you can get with a Mille, and having been stuck miles from home because the REg/Rec on the Daytona gave up and having to re-wire the charging circuit, I'm not that scared. It's just a list of jobs that you have to do..

Anyway, it's a great site! Hopefully I'll find the right bike soon!

Cheers for now!

Welcome mate I'm 6ft 2 and have no probs, the mille caters more for the taller person, long journeys aren't really an issue either,do it you'll love it and the rare issues with the bikes are easily solved and are pretty bomb proof :)

welcome along

go get one ..lol

i'm 6'2" its a big bike dont worry...didnt know there was a difference between the R and non-R when it came to insurance..obviously like to get nicked due to the ohlins and oz

Hi Thanks for the replies.

Yep, the RSV is group 15 and the RSV-R is 17.

I was thinking about the battery going flat problems. These are due to current drain to the dash / alarm, right? If you don't bother with an alarm and you don't mind re-setting the clocks etc, would it be worthwhile installing a battery isolator on the positive side of the battery? Something like this perhaps:

Not sure if this has been tried before or if there is anywhere to mount it.

Obviously, you'd still need a good battery in good condition, I'm just thinking that doing this would keep it charged without the use of a Optimate.

There's a easy step by step guide for the regulator wiring mod which improves charge at the battery and improves battery life,I don't charge mine through the winter I just run it up to temp once a week no probs :) most milles now have the uprated battery as well.go for it you won't regret it

There was a capacitor mod you can do at the rear of the dash to stop the drain or pull one of the main fuses each time

Once you get one you won't look back. Take the plunge: go pick out a beauty, ride it home, come here, post pics and tell us how much you love your new bike and how you'd never go back to anything else! :thumbup

Go for it, I bought mine without even riding it - didn't want to give myself the opportunity to back out and never looked back. Came from Triumph myself (and Jap Crap) and would never go back!

As the others have said, just do it, I bought my first one after being bored of all the rice burners and wanted something different, so got a gen 1 and it was amazing, so when that got murdered by a blind cage driver, I had to replace her with a gen 2 factory, and it again is a amazing bike, it just attracts attention wherever I am, do yourself a favour and do it, you won't regret it.

i cant imagine not having mine about now....love it !

as the other lads say , once the little mods are done to ensure any niggles are nipped in the bud....cant go wrong!

hope this helps?

G

Start up mine this morning, even with this cold freezing weather start up with no issues....WHAT NOISE :banana

Went from r6 to rsvr factory, amazing. Never getting rid of it, unless I have the money for an rsv4! Not likely!

You should def get one, once you've ridden one you be totally sold by the handling, the pace and the soundtrack.

Hi again,

Well I rode one yesterday and expected, I bloody loved it! Comfortable, great handling and really great engine. Unfortunately, this one is an 02 from a main dealer and is overpriced at £3K and has a few faults (has a mark on the swingarm where the exhaust has contacted after being dropped, a bit of the underside rear fairing missing, notchy clutch action, indicator relay not working). Lovely, sweet motor though -even sounded good through the standard can. I'd be happy to take it on if the price was right, but I don't think they'd go that low!

Anyway, there are plenty more. This one is quite near me and he has just reduced it.

I've been watching this one for a while and I was put off because the advert used to say, "would make a good track bike", and there is no mention of history. However, I think it may be worth having a look at.

Any thoughts? Would it need a different chip for the K&N airfilter?

Any advice greatly appreciated...

Looks like a nice bike!! Cant see anything amiss from the pics

No you dont need a different chip for a kn air filter

The bike in the link looks good. For 3k i would expect a minter with full history. RSV prices seem to be all over the place i bought mine for £1600 in pretty good nick with 15 k miles.(non R model) then others ive seen advertising for 3k plus :dunno

Right, sold my Triumph yesterday so now I'm definately in the market for a Mille. I've rang a few this morning but no-one seems to be answering..I think there may be a problem with old ads still appearing on Gumtree. The one bloke I did get through to told me that his sold after two days but he can't take the ad down.

If anyone is thinking of selling, let me know. My budget is 2k ish.

Cheers!
