Hello!

I have a friend with a 2002 RSVR and am on the verge of buying it from him. I spent a couple of hours on it today and love it.
I had a question regarding the passenger seat. Its my understanding the regular mille came with a passenger seat but the R versions did not. Does anyone know if the seat from the mille fits on the cowl opening of the R? My gf loves riding with me and this is the only downside of this bike. Anyone out there ever fitted the R with passenger seat and pegs? Thanks.

Paul

some of the R s do come with a pillion seat and fixings for pegs if yours doesnt you will need a subframe and seat and pegs. to check remove the rear hump with the key and check the subframe if it goes past the seat catch its a twin seat if not its a single

lift the cowl and check to see if the subframe extends right to the back of the cowl...if not you have a single seat one and need another subframe...not a problem 2-3 hours work to swap

if it is a dual seat subframe just buy a seat to0 match and rear pegs:thumbup

set of pegs in the forsale section right now...lol i'm selling them

thanks for the quick replies. forgive my ignorance here but what am i looking for? today i saw space for storage and a tool kit under the cowl. nor did it look like there was a place to mount the pegs. how much stuff will need to be swapped out here and what kind of money am i looking at?

dual seat subframe goes right under the seat catch at the rear

just need another subframe...use the original undertray.,,,cost..all depends how lucky you are...moggi has a subframe on ebay now(check his post in the for sale section),i have pegs and theres always a seat on ebay...subframes normally the most cash...but make Moggi an offer..you could get away with less than £100 all in:dunno

if you look at the seat catch if its on the ally subframe it should have fixings for the pegs one side mounts where the exhaust hanger is other side obliviously mirror image

Welcome aboard pdf! Pretty damn fast? :dunno

If it is a genuine 2002 RSVR then to my knowledge it should come already fitted with a dual subframe for pillion pegs. I think it was only the earlier RSVR's that came with the single subframe. Lift the cowl and you'll see the alloy frame extend back all the way (it is visible around the outside of the tool tray) if it is a double one, and as has already been said, you'll see on the non exhaust side two threaded holes ready to accept a pillion hanger.

If you are unsure, take a pick and post it :thumbup

thanks again for the input. looks like either way this is a solvable issue as i have seen the subframes available online. i've pretty much made up my mind to step up and get this bike. i spent about an hour and a half on it saturday and the v-twin is nothing short of amazing. i'll check out the setup on the subframe and definitely get back here with pix if its not obvious what i have. looking forward to future information on here and hope to be able to contribute as well.

ps. pdf is actually my initials but "pretty damn fast" is right on the money for the mille R!

Well guys, its official. Last thursday, brought home an '02 rsvr in great shape with 8000 miles and am still tingling. The bike came with a titanium race pipe and chip that I put on Sunday. Wow. These bikes are amazing.

I am attaching pix to show the rear area and subframe. It looks to me like its a single so I anticipate changing it and have seen them on ebay. My other question is does the the cowling behind the front seat have to change as well or does the passenger cushion rest upon what i already have and the extended subframe? I would have added pix here but dont see how I can.
