Possible New Owner Question!

Hi All,

I've always been a fan of the Tuono and I have the opportunity to pick one up for a pretty reasonable price. The problem is, it was wrecked. The damage seems to be confined to the fairing, the windshield, the gauge glass, and the headlight. All of them are gone. I haven't seen the bike in person yet, only in pictures.
I guess my question is how difficult would it be to remount a single headlight on it and run it as a "ratbike"? I eventually would replace the front end and make it look like it did when it rolled off the showroom floor. What else should I check on when I go to inspect it? What is a usual troublespot for these bikes?
I currently own a Ducati and a BSA and would love to use the Aprilia as a daily ride.

Until you seen it mate you wont know what you need. You need to weigh up what you save by buying it , what it will cost to repair and compare it to what a straight tuono costs. I bet they arent too far away from each other in which case why would you buy a bent one ?
 
If it has gone over , you need to check the radiators as they are prone to knocking off the top mounts in a spill. This leaves a sodding great hole in the top of the radiator ! Also check the crash bungs. If the left one has had an apppreciable knock, this can crack the cylinder head by the rocker box cover as this is where they mount to the frame. The mille/tuono frame is also quite prone to damage around the headstock if it has had a frontal prang, so take your time looking around that area. Think thats about it. I have a spare set of clocks if you do buy it !
 
Check for the aforementioned engine and frame damage. If it seems to be good, then REALLY fighter that gal! Start trolling eBay for goodies, and make friends with someone that can fabricate... Yer off and running!
 
if its the new shape it wont run without the clocks. factory fitted immobiliser is in there, or so i have been led to believe
 
My lady is an avionics tech (fixes all the electronics in a plane) and she says that anything electrical can be re-routed if and when necessary. They had to construct the loom at the factory so why can't we boodle the harness for a rebuild? Ya just need someone that knows wiring and electronics. Goood luck there bucko!
