hi mate done a bit myself i always make sure i keep plenty of compound on wheel it goes black as your polishing you prob need to start with the medium mop and compound and dont rush it ,then clean all residue off and switch to soft mop and compound, keep it well loaded and try to go same direction ,i did my toaster to practise when i got my kit while the missus was at work just in case i messed up lol , the toaster is now very bling however in a couple of areas there is a couple of blemishes where it looks like i may have pressed to hard or lingered on that spot to long maybe ?the toaster metal is chome finish and very thin so it will be better on thicker ali or s/s i guess. but its loads better than it was ;-). go for it and if you mess it up just send it here http://apachepolishing.co.uk/ and lee will do a mirror finish job on it for ya his work is fantastic ,he polished my original cans up for me and i stuck some blue flame badges on em to make it look good , the original cans where back brushed ali and they came back mirror perfect ....he charged me £50 the pair to do them see my garage.

why not practise on you kitchen sink you might get some added browney points as well :thumbup

hope this helps ..
