Police request for assistance

To all RSV Mille owners

If I can first introduce myself as Traffic Police sergeant 1140 Martin Moore of Humberside Police working for the last 18yrs within the Traffic department around the East Riding of yorkshire.

I am a motorcyclist myself but do not own as grand a machine as an Aprillia Mille, I apologise for the somber nature of this enquiry but its out of necessity that I seek your assistance as below.

It is our current sad duty to be investigating a three vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred in the East Riding and involved a Aprillia Mille earlier this year. I hope that this posting does not relate to a collison which involved anyone known to this forum. That concern may give you an idea that I would not normally seek assistance in this way but this appeal is to see if any forum member knows of a Mille dealer or private owner who may be in a position to loan/hire us a vehicle .

We are trying to locate a road legal Mille, it ideally needs to be the same Red,black and grey colour as the one involved which was a 51 plate model. Any costs incurred in loan/hire would be covered including fuel. We would insure the vehicle which would only be used/ ridden at the scene at road legal speeds.

We intend to conduct the reconstruction within the East riding on the 9th of August 2012 but dependant on location of any vehicle, then access to a Mille is likely to be required 8th to 10th August.

I really would appreciate any assistance with the above as our reconstruction may go some way to provide answers to the family left behind as well as with future interviews. I am contactable as below or via the forum.

Many thanks

You might want to post your request on rsvr.net as well, not everyone uses this forum.

Rob :)

Many thanks, its good to see the positive response across a few RSV forums,if we dont track down something local we may be enjoying a ride a bit further a field.

Regards

Martin

this must be a bad joke
1. i would never help police as police never helps me
2. if he is doing a reconstruction the color does not matter...
3. if he is a real police is this even allowed?
4. if he is a real police he must have been gone completely mad to do it this way. what is his motivation ?
5. if you lend or maybe provide you adress of your bike to this man you wont probably see your bike anymore

i have full mailbox of simillar offers - job oportunities, desperate widows with large property etc

have you checked him? how would you do that anyway? you call there and ask if the person works there. so what? does it mean he is the same person who posted this topic? or does it mean that such person exist only? i am sure if you ask him to the phone they will say he is away or busy :). anyway you can believe in anything you want. just be careful

Martin

I have a red black and grey 2000 RSV-R in my garage in North Lincolnshire but I'm on holiday in Portugal until 10th August.

If you absolutely have to have access to it before then I might be able to sort something out because my parents have access to the house and garage and they could meet you at the house for you to collect the bike.

I've sent you an e-mail

Cheers

Jon

Fella, I can to a degree understand your cynicism regarding the police, given your home Country, but this is the UK. Reconstructions are a common occurrence, they help people remember events that otherwise they have forgotten, that's the point and they do work. Of course the colour matters, what would be the point otherwise?
His motivation, as detailed in his post, is to get answers to what happened in the accident so those left behind know what went wrong, and those culpable are prosecuted. If you've ever lost anyone close to you you'd want to know why...

The man has given a verifiable address, and surely no one would be stupid enough to hand over a bike without checking the legitimacy of the recipient?

Finally, do you really think a scammer would target a specific colour of an old Mille worth less than £2k :roll

if i ever loose someone close i am sure that any reconstruction will not give the person back and the color during the reconstruction would not matter at all unless they would be recording a biography movie. what are they? hollywood or what... you stated it - they need to know what happened. not what color was the bike when it happened...
has anyone already verified the identity of the poster or not?

The colour of the bike could be important in terms of visibility.

He has a genuine police email address. That's good enough for me.

Jeez, it's quite obvious the colour is vital if you're attempting to jog peoples memories, not much point reconstructing a past event if the details aren't accurate.

His details have been verified by another copper on RSVR.net, and if Martin takes up my loan offer I'll be expecting official and checkable documentation beforehand, along with probably a big white & dayglo van with POLICE on the side picking it up manned by a uniformed bloke with ID.

Again, why would anyone target a specifically coloured cheap bike when if it is a scam there are plenty of more lucrative models to target?
