hello all!!

recently ive noticed a wierd trend of loose sprocket nuts, if you get a few minutes please just grab hold of a 17mm spanner and check there tight on your bikes.......
if you find a loose one then its wheel out im afraid , remove the sprocket carrier from the wheel and torque the nuts to 50nm..

the damage that is enflicted on the swingarm if the nuts come loose is pretty cack!!

also a couple of times of late as well the screws that hold the throttle plates into the throttle bodies , whip the airbox lid off and have a nose inside the bodies you'll see two screws per plate, just give em a pinch!!

please im not trying to scare people but a little lookey see might help someone!!

Cheers
Griff

What sort of mileage are you recommending this for?

I get mine serviced regularly at intervals or every year, but I'm not sure if the dealer does this.

The other thing is.... I've never ever owned a torque wrench! I've no idea how to apply Newtons/m2 with the budget kit that comes in the roll-up pack under the speed hump..

grab the 17mm spanner mate and tighten the nuts on the sprocket...if they move mate then i'd just get the bike to a mate with a torque wrench and sort him/her out with a few cold tinnies!!!

any worries mate just gimme a call and i'll talk you through it!!! no worries!!

cheers

yeah my butterflies worked loose at oulton park, full throttle in to the hissy chicane...

yep I had loose sprocket nuts not long after I got the bike. They're good now though. Ta Griff, any advice from you is good and if it helps stop someone getting damage or worse it's gotta be worth posting.

I'll have a look at the throttle plates too. I had a look in there recently too, as I was making sure my air box wasn't loaded with oil!! Next time I'll remember to check the plates at the same time

Thanks Griff -

you're going to have all us guys checking our nuts.

With the exception of Sprocker who's too busy screwing around :biggrin

Thanks for the advice Griff, luckily I know my nuts are nice and tight as I recently changed my rear sprocket so loctited them at the same time. Probably not a bad idea to replace the nuts whenever they are taken off, they are only std M10 nylocs. Don't like the sound of the butterfly screws coming loose though, if one of them drops out it's bye bye engine

My nuts were a little tight....until last night :devious
