when sorting out rear tyre I found play in the rear sprocket, thought it was cush rubbers so removed sprocket to check, found cush rubbers ok however 4 of the 5 Allen key bolts that hold carrier onto rear wheel were loose, the question is as this caused the holes to be opened up through chain yanking carrier against the bolts or are the holes not made a perfect fit for the bolts to go through with out any play, now tightened up there is no movement however I don't want to build bike up to find the POWER of the engine just rags it all loose again new carrier is £117 more dosh to the Mille.:confused
cheers Wilky

simple answer tighten again to 50nm tightening opposite bolts to keep the sprocket inline.
then check for free play.

i saw on ebay somoen selling them too about £6 each if i remember correctly, not on normal search, you'll need to include shop inventory

If you mean the sprocket is loose on the carrier, the nuts on the carrier bolts are single use only (officially).
the nylon on the nut that holds them tight won't stand repeated fittings and still keep it locked.

They are cheap enough to replace if coming loose.

The sprocket is nice and tight it is the carrier that (the thing the sprocket is attached to ) as got the play in it

Hi,if you can't get hold of new Nyloc nuts use Red Loctite which will only loosen with heat(heat gun).Regards AL PS.I check the hub/carrier every week after a run.

The cush drive and pins are purely friction fit into the wheel so if they have play they need replacing.

there shouldn't be any play in them at all. If fact they are often so tight they won't come apart without persusassion.
