Plastic mesh in air duct

as you know i fitted my new carbon front air intake piece last week, but whilst i had the front of the bike off i took out the plastic "mesh" piece inside the air intake. Was just wandering if this would have any adverse effects? like sucking in more crap to the hooked filter? i wouldnt have thought it would make much difference but just wanted 2 c what you guys thought. cheers

hi ben, put them back bud, you dont want a swallow in your air box!!. leaves,bees, big bugs!!, small children? and dont forget about sucking rabbits out of hedges!!

lol! bugs nd stuff must have got sucked through before though, wudda been a pretty unlucky bee 2 hit one of the criss cross bits on the mesh!

When I replaced my airbox I found two more or less complete wasps on the air filter and some other random bug bits as well as a small leaf. Either I don't have the mesh bit or it's rubbish anyway

Unless you mean the plastic spine that sits just inside the intake at the front?
