Pirelli tyre ?

M

mutts nuts

i`m due for some new hoops pretty soon , only thing is not sure what to go for i know it`s a personal thing and a lot of you have your own favs ,
i`ve narrowed mine down to qualifier 2`s , bt 014-016 , or pirellis .:confused........
the is some good deals around on pirelli`s at the mo which puts them at top of my list :biggrin , but does anyone know the differences between diablo, diablo sport , corsa 3 etc :dunno they seem to have a lot in their sport tyre range , i`ve tried to search on net but nothin i have seen makes it any clearer to me , may end up ringing a dealer but till then any pointers apprecited .

cheers :thumbup...................:eatcorn

Diablo corsa is their street tyre that is now beign replaced bi diablo rosso. Diablo corsa III is their street/track tyre. Diablo/dragon supercorsa are their track tyres. Pirelli tires are great, but wear out fast.

For only street go with Rosso or Corsa.

If you go for dunlop I would rather recomen qualifier rr, than qualifier 2.

i quite like the standard diablos. Bought the corsa 3's when i got the mille and i'm not liking them quite so much. Saying that i've enjoyed them a lot more since grif worked on my bike! Not had much time to have a proper play yet though

i'd avoid the bt014's though. Had them on 2 different bikes and didn't like them on either. Bring back 010's thats what i say! Tempted to try016's though

Mate I had supercorsa's on my first factory and they were absolutely fantastic. Did a couple of track days on them and got just shy of 2500 miles out of the rear. However they were wasted on the road.

I would go for the diablo corsa as this is the road tyre but 'corsa' denotes a softer compound giving that bit extra confidence and grip. They wont last quite as long as the standard rosso tyre though. However, tyre life depends a lot on your riding style. If all you do is road riding then the Rosso is the one, if your likely to do the odd trackday then go for the diablo corsa.

Ive ridden BT014's and they were great on the road, unsure i would use them on track though. The BT016 are a triple compound tyre so should be good for the road and track. Not ridden them though.:dunno

Ive just changed my dunlop RR's for a pair of michelin 2CT's. Had these on my R1 and what an absolutely awesome tyre. I just had to get a pair on my prilla and WOW.:doug First ride out to scrub them in and got Knee down on roundabout within 60 miles, no chicken strips! It would take me over 1000 miles to get that confident with a dunlop tyre. Loads of grip, loads of confidence, stable and will last me through next year as well.
One thing with tyres though is everyone is different. I hate dunlops, too steep a drop into corners, very unerving for me, but some of my mates swear by them. Over the years i've tried loads of different tyres on different bikes and you've just got to go with what you know. Better to be confident with your tyres than risk buying the wrong ones for the price. Let us know what you go with. All your options are good so you shouldn't have any probs with any of them matey.:thumbup

cheers guys :thumbup

looks like it`s gonna be the corsas not worried about the milage more a confidence thing runin dunlops at the mo ......d218 they came with the bike but now it`s time for them to go :biggrin

...The BT016 are a triple compound tyre so should be good for the road and track...

Just to clarify for those who don't know; the front tyre is triple, ie one medium compund in the centre, and soft on either side. The rear is 5 compound, one hard in the centre, medium on the shoulders, and soft on the edges.

I much preferred them when i put them on my old Blade, but only did 2 rideouts and a day at California Superbike School on them before I flogged it for the Mille :pirate

Hi Mutts, hope you're alright mate.

Look don't feck about go Michelin 2CTs and have done with it!! Unless someone advises to get something else, and unless there's a particularly good deal one on of your other choices........ :confused:confused

Bottom line is there are no bad tyres and all top makes have a really good sports tyre - in the last 2 years the game has moved on a lot so pick your tyre based on instinct, recommendations or the best deal at the mo and get someone who knows what they're about to fit them (i.e. for you or me that means go to Bike Tyres Leeds)

Its mainly all in the head so scrub them in, push them as soon as you can and then tell yourself they're awesome and guess what they will be. :biggrin:biggrin

At least you'll get rid of those tyres that noone but noone has ever heard of so anything is a big improvement :thumbup:thumbup:thumbup

Michelins not a tyre to rule out, heats up quicker than Dunlops from cold (Not a bad track tyre once hot though) and gives better wear than Bridgestones (on NZ Roads anyway) if you are running a 180 I would think about Pilot Road 2ct or run Power 2ct if you want 190 55. Unless you are doing track time or scraping pegs on the road I think people way over tyre their bikes for the type of riding and abillity.

I have Michelins Powers on at mo for winter riding but am about to put Pirelli Super corsa pros on for some track work and Id be happy to run Race Tecs as well.

At the end of the day its what you feel confident on.

The Rennsports were my favourite, but i'm now on Pirreli Diablo Corsa's (not the '3' compound version) and am very happy with them. They warm us pretty quick and offer good grip while powering out of bends with just enough squirm to let you know exactly what's going on down there. Fronts are confidence inspriring too, enough so to drop onto the knee at T-junctions once warm.

Boy's what sort of mileage are you getting from the rears?? Hard road riding is not getting me 1200 mile's out of BT 016's???

Just replied to your other thread before I read this one.... as the Meerkats say 'SIMPLES' get them fitted on your bike and enjoy - i've done about 1,000 miles on these (no must be more now) having been a dedicated 2CT user and they're every bit as good...

There you go just saved you about £140 less tyre fitting (say £20 per wheel max.) I reckon you owe me about a oner - will settle for a milky coffee next time I see you at Squires

these are a bit extreme for li ole me :devious track orientated would not like to try them if it got wet  if you know what i mean :biggrin
