I used to say to my mates, stop being a fair weather biker. riding in all conditions makes you a better rider. well it does but you are also an *****. been riding all year round for about 6 years now and still trying to get a car for the winter.
About 3-4 years back we had some good snow in wiltshire. My bike at the time a GSXR750ws was in the shop for repairs (spent most of its time in the shop with crap carbs. funny that dealer is my local aprilia dealer. bugger!) anyways, I had a loan bike, Suzuki SV1000. great for wheels.
Went to finish work at 5 and everywhere had snow. Thought, bugger it. time to learn to ride in the snow. got to the end of the industrial estate and pulled in. had a *** and thought, bugger this. leave the bike abd walk home. then I saw a guy a busa riding in the snow like it was all sunny! right then, if he can do it so can I!
Off I set on my 20 minute trip (took 2.5 hours lol)
the best part was going over the railway bridge. its steep. normally get some good air on it but today it took me about 5 goes at getting up it.
The next day I took the loan bike back. the guy in the shop said. what the F have you been doing to the tyre! the rear tyre was scratched to bugger from all the wheel spinning in the snow.
Haven't riden in the snow since and dont want to.
Freezing fog is a bugger too! that was my trip to York at 5am in the morning and almost dropped my TL within 5 minutes of leaving my house and I had a strip of clear visor about 1.5cm high and 6cm long where I kept wiping it with the glove.
I looked like a snowman with all the frost on me when I stopped at the services. Had some strange looks. O the good old days. who needs dry roads and sun to have fun. well it helps
