Well, I took the plunge yesterday and bought a sweet 2007 black and gray Tuono. Only 12,500 miles on her and she looks to be in great shape. The bike came with aftermarket mufflers made by DanMoto. I've never heard of that brand, but they are mostly carbon fiber. Really light and really loud.
I put the silencing inserts into them but it's still too loud. I live in a condominium and I certainly won't make any friends starting the bike up in the early morning when I go to work. So I reluctantly removed the noise makers and installed the stock exhaust. It now feels like I neutered the beast, as it no longer has that deep intoxicating rumble.
My question to you all...
Is there an aftermarket exhaust the sounds deep and throaty, but has a relative low volume level? My thought is to sell or trade the DanMoto cans and buy something that won't piss off my neighbors so much.
