On the way home from a great ride out last Wednesday when one of those mindless, moronic, stupid bleedin' birds walks out in front of me like they do. Tried braking but realised I was going to hit it so let the brakes off. Couldn't just stand there and die could it! Oh no, ba5tard had to take off and hit my nearside headlamp didn't it!!

Don't know whether you've ever noticed but the bosses molded on the inside of the fairing where the light units bolt to are very thin. Big bosses on thin 3 sided box section plastic.

Dumb bird managed to completely break the top boss and cracked all the bottom one. Took the nose cone off and glued it back together adding some steel washers glued on for additional strength over the cracks.

When refitting it all noticed I also have a small crack under the air intake, not noticeable unless you know it's there but I BLOODY WELL DO :angry

Just keeping my fingers crossed now that my repair stands up to the vibration. I'll have to try stronger glues if not and then, gulp, new nose cone. You can see why I hope the repair holds!!

Mr Angry of Northants.

Was it dead..

What a sickener. Only thing wrong with welding is it leaves a line and has to be painted.. I got hit in the chest by a sparrow over Belmont moors near bolton, killed the sparrow, nice bruise and a bit of snot etc on jacket, wondered what the f..k it was at the time.

You certainly claim the prize. can be big *******s those pheasants your lucky it didnt cause a spill....

Mr Angry of Northants.

Biggest bird i clouted was a Black Backed Seagull, twice the size of a pheasant, pushed my headlight unit right back into the fairing.

Tiz annoying, but it could have been worse mate, i hope you took it home for the pot:dowhat

Mate i hope you put the bloody thing out of its misery:angry HOW DARE that bird take your road , hope you can fix it , took a peak in the garage mate :inlove WE cant get your 1 here , mate very nice ride:bling

Thanks mickria. It is mended fairly easily, just hoping the repair holds up to vibration etc. Watch this space, weather seems to have turned nice so I'll be testing it beginning of next week!!

Ive hit and head butted a few spuggies in my time, thankfully they're light birds, now a seagull, thats a whole differnet ball game-eek
