hi guys can anyone tell me the best sealent to use for sealing the fuel pump to the tank mines decided to start dripping, ******* plastic tanks:angry

poss yes but i think the seal will protect the silicon if it is a small weep plus if it lasts a year its cheap to redo

Blue Hylomar is the stuff you need. Non setting and petrol resistant.

Take care to tighten the bolts on the fuel pump in the correct order though to prevent further warpage - ask me how I know!

cheers mate where do you get the hylomar from and whats the correct order for the bolts

If you have a Motosave near you, they stock it. Failing that Halfords stock a similar product but I can't remember the name of it. Just ask for blue, non setting, petrol resistant sealant.

I'm typing this from my holidays in sunny Portugal so haven't got my Haynes manual with me to tell you the tightening pattern I'm afraid.

Anyone else got a copy that they are able to look it up?

Hey bollokchops, i had exactly the same problem but i also had a heavy handed person work on the bike before i owned it and they managed to 'shear' one of the threaded rivets that live in the tank. I removed pump plate, industrial araldited the threaded rivet back in place, found the most uneven part of the sealing face of tank and lightly sanded it with a small block of wood and sandpaper. I then swilled the tank out with petrol and purchased a new sealing 'o' ring. I then used some 'Granville blue gasket sealant' available off the bay and put a small amount under the o ring then seated it, then put s but on top of the o ring, making sure not to get any on the 'inside' of the o ring (so none comes off inside the tank). Seat the pump housing on the clean sealing surface of the tank then carefully put all bolts in place. i dont think the pattern is so important, just make sure you gently tighten them evenly (criss cross like a headgasket) and dont overtighten. job done and mine has sealed perfectly with no leaks. good luck and hope this helps
