Petrol coming out of one of the breather/overflow hoses?!?!?!

Guys

Riding yesterday could smell petrol.....hmmmm. Not my filler cap as I have sorted that in May, when I got a lap full. PS. this is only a gen ii 2006 bike I have owned since May and had 5,000miles on it and I have now done a further 4,000 this summer!! horay.

Checking my ever reducing oil level (another issue I reckon I have!) I noticed petrol dripping out of what I assume is a breather pipe/overflow pipe in front of the gear change peddle.

Having just filled up I rocked the bike back and forwards and it pisses out! Checked it was not coming from the overflow hole in the filler cap, negative.

Lifted the tank (half full) and there are two hoses clipped next to the braided main feed to the carburettor. The petrol is coming from one of these (the furthest right as you sit on bike). When the tank is lifted the petrol literally flows out of this pipe.

FYI there are no kinks in any pipes, the bike rides well. I can only assume if there is a snorkel type set up in the tank it is jammed or blocked.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Fortunately the bike is still in warrantee for 4 more weeks if you suggest I take it back.....130 mile round trip though.

regards

Bear.

That is probably a mixture of fuel, fuel vapour and condensation.Often seen when the tank has been over filled,...or lifted when full of fuel.

Perfectly normal for a half full tank. The tank is supposed to be almost empty when lifted.

Hi, I would take it back anyway as anything reported while under warranty would still be the sellers responsibility if the problem recurs after it has expired.
As for the oil level, as long as the oil is in the sight window its ok, this is different every time I look at mine

The only thing I cant stand about the bike is the oil readings, different every time I look, up right and after a run....before any one asks. Put 300ml in it tonight, that would make 1lt for 4,000 miles......my old Vmax I topped up once in 7 years! The T does not blow smoke or leak so I don't know where it is going and I don't ride it hard.

Keith, I always fill tank to approx. 20mm below lowest point of aperture. I fill consistently to the same level, never had the problem before. I did have a requirement to lift the tank previously for a reason I cant remember, didn't leak then.......that is why I am questioning it and seeing if this is common place like the filler cap leak.

Thanks for your assistance.

Yeah, the first time I had a look under the tank on my bike,it was around half full.I got a boot soaked in fuel for my trouble. The tank needs to have a quarter or less fuel to avoid this.
As for the other leak,...if the tank has'nt been overfilled,it could be an internal hose split or come adrift.
