Hi all ,

i 've got a original 02 Haga rep and it is all standard except for all the usuall factory add on's like akros , ohlins ect but i have kept it as orignal as possible for years but i would like to bring the performance of the bike up to date as the bikes these days are getting smaller and quicker and my baby is starting to fall behind. Don't get me wrong i love my bike and the way it handles and looks but i would love more power. There are many ways to do this but i would like to know the best way or if any body knows someone who give me some good advise. Really i would like a good spread of power through the rev range from start to top end. Any help would be great.

Hi m8 do you know the standard sprocket sizes on the haga ,that would be a cheaper place to start by changing the gearing a bit more ooomph through the range the only downside is less top speed,as for chips and the like i think the haga already has an upgraded system,as with the exhausts yours already comes wi a race system ,depending how deep your pockets are ,theres always carbon wheels or big piston kits...........

Cheers for the reply , it looks like it is going to be a engine mod as i have already done the sprockets.

i think it may be big bucks mate to get it to todays standards of power. Do you really use all it has already ? i probably use full throttle for less than 10% of my riding ... you could always supercharge it (maybe??)

Spend ya $$$$ on getting your suspension fully sorted .... the best money I spent !!

IMHO the only way to lift your game would be a big bore. These typically lift the torque by 15% across the range - that should be enough to let you show a clean pair of heels to the 600cc I4s and put you on par with some of the older 1000cc I4s. As for the newest I4s on the block, what do you expect from a 13 year old engine?

I guess it depends how much dosh you've got in your wallet.

if you want to keep the mille and make it slightly better then its 57's,pc3,airbox conversion..but dont expect it to be as quick as the modern bikes

to get a bit closer to them its a 1060 bigbore kit with headwork and cams (£2500) add this to the above and it should be a lot more lively

like he said......

On trackdays I overtake R1's and get overtaken by SV 650's

It's down to setup and rider skill, dont get hung up on BHP. If you 10% extra, your looking at 145 BHP?, still 40 BHP shy of a modern blade.

Wot he said on the track balls and skill rather than bhp and big bucks, you've got to pish yourself laughing in your helmet when youve just went flying by a guy in leathers that cost £2000 on a bike that costs £16000, on a bike that costs less than £5000 in leathers that cost less than £200 Braw.....

Miff said it really. HP aint the be all and end all. Most people should spend bucks on decent suspension and deff lighter wheels and then some track/tuition time to get things sorted

i nearly bought a 1060 engine in the winter ,...but whats the point arriving at the corner even faster if

1) the suspesion cant cope
2) i cant cope..lol

as above good suspension and some tuition go along way to making you ride quicker

never heard ...

' Power's nothing without control '

tis true ! sort the suspension- rebuild, new fluid and seals and get it set up by the suspension guy that frequents trackdays in the uk (not sure who he works for but ive heard very good things about the set up)

im a fat bloke with an 08 milie and did a trackday the other week at ty croes, and i had a ball!!! simples. out pulled lads on gixers/r1`s and got passed buy smaller stuff!!! weve got these things as toys and more so to be diffrent from the crowd but most of all go enjoy and leave the mega bucks engine/tuning to the race teams.
it is wat it is but sounds the bollox!!!!
enjoy big john

I have to agree here. It's an old bike that you buy for the chassis and the soul of the thing. This engine is well quick enough for the uk roads. I have changed my R1 for a Mille and its such a good road bike it's untrue. I have an R1 track bike and can run mid 1:50's around Oulton park on it which is great but having that sort of hourse power on the road is a bit of a waste. I think the HAGA rep is awesome. I am just in the process of doing mine in the same fashion.
I have got an ackra system on ebay for 60 quid but I need cans, hangers and straps etc. What diameter are the Haga rep Ackra's and if I have the PCII already, do I need the chip to get the 10 bhp gains that the exhaust system gives?
Enjoy your weekend!
Ade
