What difference would the holes around the tube make to the sound of the exhaust if they were bigger or smaller...?

If your that bored dude get your drill out, and plot a graph in the difference in noise:thumbup

Going to order some tube, I'm going to core the OE end cans

Just wondering on the difference in sound it would make to the can, deeper or not much difference.........:roll

Not sure if the tube will make much difference but having decent packing does.

Since repacking mine over the winter and putting a few miles on it to get the packing bedded in, the exhaust note has gone much deeper in tone.

My cans were cored and totally gutted when I bought my 04 RSVR and it was loooooooooooooud as fcuk mate :biggrin:thumbup

Fueling wasn't great and would sometimes cut the engine at traffic lights :dunno

What packing did you use

I would say the bigger the hole the more the wadding will absorb, so more noise would be had from the smaller holes, but i maybe wrong as its not unusual :thumbup:biggrin

I reckon thats all depending on the bore of the pipe, the bigger the bore the deeper the sound as theres more space for the gases to resinate in, so for what its worth i would say small holes to stop the wadding soaking them up and the biggest bore tube you can get to fit in, the bore on mine are 65mm and the holes are about 2mm with a 5/6mm gap between them, mine gives a nice deep sound, probably no help but i got it off my chest :thumbup

I quite agree i would rather have a deep sound than a very loud one, yeah deep and loud-ish is the way forward...:biggrin

i remember reading something about the type of metal making a difference to the sound. may have been in the howto section.
