Parts availability on Aprilia ?

I`ve owned an RSV, and a V-twin Tuono in the past, and now thinking of returning to the fold on a Tuono V4RR.

I keep, however, hearing that parts can be difficult to get hold of - in the UK - and that the main factory in Italy shuts down for 6 weeks in August, making it hard to source parts.

Is this correct, or is this just dealers trying to convince me to buy another one of their other-brand bikes that they have in stock, rather than an Aprilia ?

Yes it can be true for slower moving parts, I have experienced it, and am experiencing it at the moment. Fortunately my bike is for pleasure only, so its an annoyance rather than a disaster for me. There is also the issue of resale values, since Aprilia keep heavily discounting their new prices. Rather than do that, they would be much better off in the long term by improving their support network and QC.
Having said all that, it is a stunning bike to ride, it makes me smile each time I get on it.
