Hey All

i am currently looking to get one of these however, before I do I would like to know if anyone can answer any/all of both questions below:

1 - Will the buttons on the device above control the normal Windows Media Player via A2DP?

2 - Will Igo on the phone be able to talk to the bluetooth headset whilst music is playing (from WMPlayer)?

Ideal situation....

riding along listening to some low(ish) volume music and still receive loud direction instructions from the phone. The ability to receive calls whilst doing all this is an option nice bonus.

Thanks in advance!!!!

I have windows mobile on my xda2 and also use media player, but it wont allow me to listen to music via bluetooth through a headset, and the voicecalls are next to useless on the bike as the wind noise is too much for anyone to hear me over 40mph.

I now use the audio cable plugged into my xda and listen to music, and it allows me to pause, fast forward stop etc by the remote built into the cable, and when my phone rings, i know because the music is stopped whilst the ringtone plays, then allows me to pull over and return the call.

Hope this helps one way or another.......

Cheers Beanie

it appears its very hit and miss. It looks like WMP will work via A2DP with some headsets and not others. After some extensive googling it looks like it will work with the above parrot and also, the noise issue is very minimal. Fingers crossed!:thumbup

Been thinking bout this whilst at work, if you have a normal bluetooth headset, and you use windows media player, does it come through the headset, you might need to change a profile to headset or handsfree.

If it does, then the parrot headset should work for you, if it doesn't, then you will save your money.

Funnily, my old brick nokia communicator running symbian software does allow this to work, and it's ancient in phone terms.

Thanks Beanie. Interesting.

Problem is, its a lot of money (£120) to spend on wireless headphones which, if A2DP doesn't work is what they will be.If thats the case i'd rather just stick with the cabled solution I have at the moment which was free and came with my Omnia.

thats why i said for you to see if you can test it with a normal bluetooth headset, this would tell you if it would work with the parrot.

My old pillion to rider intercom was ok for background noise upto about 40mph, then it was game over. And the earpiece used to get really uncomfortable after 20 miles.

(although that might be down to all my piercings/stretches & odd shaped head)

Personally, i would carry on using the cable and spend your money on some nice earphones to go with your existing setup, and still have enough for a few beers......

Indeed but, as I said, all BT units operate diferently. Some work with Windows Mobile and some don't. After some hard googling (was another busy day at work ;) ) I still can't find anyone thats used this particular top of the range headset with Windows Mobile 6.1 and ITS particular version of Windows Media Player together.

The cabled solution I have is the standard Omnia one and I haven't found any advanced ones. In other words, I can't pause/stop/start/rr/ff/volume +- etc. The A2DP solution would be great as it would allow me to do all this ... as well as take or reject calls!:thumbup

Also, very unlikely indeed but, I remember a few years ago about a guy who was ripped off his bike as a bit of material on his rucksack got caught on a car going the other way. I have had instances where the cable has actually dangled about dangerously and I really don't want to risk this. Seems no matter how much I tangle it up, the wind seems to pull it out of my pockets/jacket seem.:roll

Checked the specs on the omnia, and your cabled solution isn't like mine, as i have a mini usb adapter that allows me to charge and listen to audio and data connect all through the one socket. This also acts as my cabled lead remote control system that controls all my audio functions that you are after.

I was playing with your handset one of the kids at youthclub had last night, and must admit its a nice bit of kit, shame its limited by this feature.

as for my xda, its forever crashing, and don't even mention the built in gps, its awful.

One day, they might even make a phone that has everything every user wants in one, but i won't hold my breath.

As for the dangling lead, i put mine on the inside pocket of my jacket and feed the lead up through my tube, and straight into my lid, it also stops it blowing around in the wind.

good luck
