my new 01 front end is off to the paint shop tomorrow...i've stripped it down and destickered it.
question is can i paint the carbon ears?.....i can't really see there being a problem...i just want them to match the rest of the bike.
i've only spoken to the painter over the phone so just wanted a heads up before i go:dunno

Hello Matey :thumbup

YES .... you can paint them no problems :biggrin

Obviously i don't know how they are manufactured. If its just a carbon finish then pin holes will be an issue but not a problem for primer or undercoat. A gel-coat finish is ideal ..... Gel-coat is designed purely to give a good base to start painting from. A lacquered finish will be ok to paint over BUT there may be a possibility of a reaction depending on what lacquer was originally used ..... this would mean sanding off the lacquered finish before priming/undercoating. :thumbup

P.S. Ya want your arse slapping painting over lovely carbon :doug :nana

Am with you on this on mate :thumbup

RSVkwackers Can you not leave the carbon as it is? Each to there own though i suppose:nana
i want them to blend in with the paint not be stuck on the front looking a bit out of place
there the original aprilia carbon ones i'll be painting.....thought it would be better to paint and get a perfect colour match as the painters doing the front fairing at the same time(colour matching as no paint codes:confused) rather than source some hot red ones

I can see your point because other wise it's more £££'s just to get more carbon bit you don't need. Go for it mate but You'll have to post some pics up when all done :biggrin:ytiller
