Forgive my ignorance, Aprilia's are new to me so I'm still learning, but, as you can see from the pics my wheels have got OZ stickers on them. I'm assuming a previous owner put the stickers on as my bike aint a factory, unless he fitted OZ wheels to the bike, how do I tell?

Sure as feck mucker, if some fud stamps ROLEX WID YER BUY IT.

To be honest the later wheels could still have been made at the same factory just not under the OZ licence.
The wheels on smudgers T look too glossy and smooth to be the forged ones, they look to have a powder coat type finish, but I could be wrong, it does happen frequently.

Absolutely right about the manufacturing......post 08 Aprilia finished with OZ but the wheels were still made to the same pattern by Malgatech (who make the RSV4 factory wheels) are were just a light.....and had the OZ logo.

The original OZ wheels 99-04 did have a glossy finish, only <04 OZ wheels had the crackled matt finish. From looking at the pic I'd say there aren't OZ.......genuine OZ wheels have thinner spokes with sharper edges, the cast wheels are more rounded where the spokes meet the wheel rim.

Only two ways to check......first the NOB test (ie OZ stamped behind the disc), or two take one off and pick it up: if it's heavier than an elephant it's fake, if its light as a feather its real.

I would bet that you simply have a fivers worth of ebay stickers on a pair of cast wheels. The Malgatech forged ones on my factory have a shed load of stuff stamped into the rim. As above the edges are sharper etc, and they are anodized, not powder coated.

Yes Bat you're right. I've got a shed load of stuff stamped on the side of my wheels as well. Didn't like to say that last night but now u've said I don't feel so foolish. Yes I've got all sorts stamped into the rim. Had them off when had the tyres changed and the guy commented on how light they were. I had a look just to check see if there were any cracks in them or owt and absolutely not. They're in perfect condition. Surprising how strong they are seeing how light they are.

Thats the beauty of forging over casting bay, higher strength yet reduced weight.

why take em off ?

i,ve got st michael on me boxers, dont mean i know him personally....
