Overheating issue unresolved

Hi everyone. This is my first post and it's not a happy one unfortunately.
My brand new Tuono V4R has been overheating from day one with peak temperatures of 116c and the warning light coming on.
It's back at the shop obviously, but they have not yet found a fault. Apparently all checks out: fans come on and the thermostat works.
They said next it's to test the water pump and check the temperature with another instrument rather than the onboard one just in case that's where the fault is.
I know that here in Australia the climate is not favourable but all the other Tuono owners I've spoken to don't report any problems.
Any thougths and comments are greatly appreciated as I'm far from being an expert in the field, I just want my lovely bike back!!
Cheers.

could be anything, wrong oil, wrong coolant, airlock in coolant system, faulty oil pump, clogged oil galleys, etc, etc

I would be very worried as it may be causing long term damage if is anything to do with the oil and overheating is not the greatest for heads etc.

I was worried too that's why it's back at the shop. It'd be scary thinking that a brand new bike would have the wrong oil or coolant, particularly because the place I bought it from has a very good reputation. It's always worth not leaving any stone unturned so thank you for the feedback:)

g, hope it's just a faulty temp sender unit.

the problem with even good workshops is they still have little useless juniors working on common things like oil changes

Had a mate who took his cruiser in for a service, on the way home after work after picking up the bike a few days later on the freeway his rear tyre locked up making him skid to a halt in front of a semi. They restled the bike off the road and loaded it onto a trailer and took it back to the dealer. After a lot of arguing and BS excuses about "oh these always use some oil" long story short is they had taken the drain plug out for the oil change, drained the oil out, put the plug back in and then got distracted for a while. Come back and thought they had finished. Basically only had the oil that was left in the galleys after they had drained it. Seized motor, damaged gearbox, etc, etc. Even after all the arguing about who's fault he only managed to get some of the cost covered. Sold it after it was rebuilt though.
Only takes one stupid apprentice, mechanic to wreck things.

What a story! Since for the time being there aren't many Aprilia around in Perth at that dealership there's only one trained mechanic; he's an older bloke who's very passionate about the brand (he calls the bikes his babies) and he's frustrated he can't pin point where the fault is. Spoke to them yesterday and they said that in the worst case scenario they will fly an Aprilia technician from Sydney to help them out. Just to cover myself I've spoken to Consumer Protection yesterday and since it's an item covered by warranty there are only 3 options: fix it, new bike or money back.

At least they are making the right noises about fixing your steed.

Maybe agree a time frame for this to be resolved, & at least a courtessy bike for you to ride in the meen time... ?

Hope its resolved soon for you and you get to enjoy it !

Agree with courtesy bike.
If its been like this since new & not sorted yet, I'd be looking for another bike.

I'll be seeing them tomorrow and see what we can sort out. The bike is my only vehicle as the wife uses the car so I'm back on bus and train and that sucks!
The whole experience is so frustrating that I already thought of another bike. The Tuono is so great to ride though that I would go for another one despite the current issue.

Just got a call about an hour ago that they fixed it! Apparently it was a "sticky" thermostat after all. Now I just have to test it...

Bloody hell, I'd have thought that would have been 1 of the first things to check!
Fingers crossed its fixed.

Thanks guys. Maybe the junior mechanic checked it first. It seemed ok on the ride home so I see how it goes in the next few days

I hope that was the problem mucker, fingers crossed all goes well and you'll be able to enjoy yer new machine. :thumbup

Got to 103 in traffic and then started to cool down so I guess it's sorted. Now I can't wait for the engine to start loosing up as she's drinking like a whore on a Saturday night!

It's not the kind of bike you buy with an eye on fuel consumption is it ?

For sure, but I'll be happy when I'll be able to do more than 110k before the light comes on
