But make sure you connect it up with it switched off and then switch it on afterwards:thumbup

I had heard that all but the latest Optimates do not charge the battery as they might - i.e. it's o.k. to leave them on charge, but that it will only perform the battery check function each time it is reset (switched off)?

Don't know how true this is?

Leaving it on the Optimate will be better than not though - otherwise, buy a timer switch which comes on for 30 mins once per week? I've seen that done before as well. :pirate

Haven't had to do this with my optimate...if the charge drops it automatically tops up.....even in the coldest of cold weather the bike fires up first time...so leave it plugged in...but make sure as stated above that on connection you connect without power then plug in & when disconnect turn off power before disconnecting. This means the optimate 'recognises' the battery each time it's plugged in!

:stupid As NewBoots says it does charge the battery. My battery was flat as a witches tit after my starter relay died but a day on the optimate and it was fully charged.:thumbup
