Optimate 3 ...?

B

BB1000

Right......went out to the garage today....red light on the optimate.....bollocks, has my new battery got a problem....Well i unplugged the optimate from the mains then from the connector at the battery, will try and start the bike, voltage reads 13.5 before i start the bike

Starts first time no problem, sounded though it turned other quicker than it did with the old type battery

Anyhoo....is my optimate dead or what ? ....... my new battery is an AGM westco battery by the way which is supposed to hold charge better than an ordinary gell battery

Mine did that a short while ago. It turned out to be the fuse holder on the Optimate lead had come unscrewed and the fuse had dropped out!!

Sometimes the Optimate will register problems, not a red light if I remember correctly. Turning it off and back on again has always sorted it so far (except for the occasion above!) :lol

Must admit, only had mine for a couple of weeks and it appears to function perfectly....are you disconnecting it from mains prior to disconnecting from bike and then re-connecting to mains before plugging into bike?!

Its the bottom right light....manual says its orange but it looks red to me

Will check that fuse holder tomorrow

Cheers

My red light comes on if the electric supply is interupted, or I turn the ign on, or even the alarm goes off.

Newboots, the proceedure for reconnecting the Optimate is to connect the Optimate to the bike battery before connecting to the mains supply.

Your right in saying that the Optimate should be switched off at the mains supply before disconnecting the Optimate from the battery :thumbup
