Went Souff today to meet up wae OT and his mucker John. They escorted me aboot the lanes and hills around Hartside-Alston. :thumbup

It wiz fookin brill. :whoop :roost

Many thanks tae yer and John fir inviting me,,,,,,,,,I had a ball.

Cheers OT. :thumbup :yes :cheers

Aye, it was a good ride out, better than being at work, at one point I was not altogether in control, bouncing from boulder to boulder.

At another point, there was a tiny stream - approx. 2 foot across, but it was 2 foot deep & swampy, it caught us all out, my mate got bounced off his bike like a buckaroo.

After you left, we went back round the first couple of tracks the opposite way, some "technical bits" where it was a bit rocky.

The first picture is a photo of the route my sat nav recorded - I need to see how to down-load images rather than take a photo of my PC screen - Hartside café is where the white square is.

The second one is the elevation changes during the day, some ups & downs - I think we did about 60 odd miles.

Lucky buggers...... looks like you had a good blast...... and no rain....

:)

OT, it wiz a Braw day oot and well worth the effort, also my first experience of Green Laning in Englandshire.

I learned a couple of things as well,,,,,,,,,,,,,not to follow to closely (see and choose yer own line) and the importance of a back brake wae very little lever travel (fir the downhill sections, especially on a 2T ).

Thoroughly enjoyed my short time wae yer and John and hope I didnae hold yer up to much.

When's the next one. :thumbup

Mr A,
I went out on Wednesday with a couple of the TRF boys & this is the route we took. It was an all day job, I came back fooked.

By coincidence - one of them used to own Grin Factors Tuono - its a small world.

To give you an idea, the green track is the route we took around Hartside, , the blue track is Wednesdays route. A really good blend of lanes, forests, technical bits, swampy bits etc - 168 KM (according to my gizmo).

As you say, we will have to plan another day out, its always recommended to travel with someone else.

Jon, my mate has done some off roading before, he rides an ancient XT600, but as you say, its always best to follow your own judgement.

For info, he is the one I went rallying with a few months ago - he likes to crack on a bit.

Recognise the "van" in the following, its where we turned up that rocky track & I nearly lost it.

The bike took a bit of cleaning this time.

Nice one OT, I'll bet your legs were a bit shoogly after that amount of time and miles off road.

Looking at the map, I wonder if the route you took was the path that I asked Jon about ?

Unfortunately if I attempted that many miles in a day I'd fall asleep on the way home.

Keep it up mucker, it's The Best way to keep supple and relatively fit. :thumbup

well guys been following this thread with interest as you all know I want an enduro alas its not to be :bawling just had my shoulder scan results back and I have to go for another op :thumbdown trying to hold off for as long as I can as it will mean no riding for around 3 - 4 month after the op :bawling so end of Oct sounds good to me :yes
keep posting chaps so I can be well jel :drool

Will do.

I went out again last sunday with some TRF members, we did approx 140 miles, approx 2/3 off road around Bishop Auckland, Richmond, Leyburn, Hawes etc.

I dropped it once - a low speed off when the front slipped away on steep loose rocky section - no damage.

Was a crackin pace all day - still aching now.

Thats a Bugger mr B..... still if its over winter then that eases the pain....... a little.

Impressed with the miles your rackin up OT !
Went walking over Hawes way the other week - doin a recky for off road jaunts. Went along the old roman road from Bainbridge to just outside of Hawes (Cam High Road ?)
Figured if i cant ride em yet id have a nice walk along some of them...

You may have gone along that one on your trip to Hawes....

Sore paw is on the mend, but frustratingly slowly. Dont like bumps on the road never mind on the trails, so im leaving the RMX sorned over the summer. Dont want to risk agrevating it and miss out on Me T.

Loose plan is mot & tax after the September fudfest and see how it goes from there...

:whoop

Mrs B is hoping it will shorten my arm and stop my spending :lol

alas it doesnt work that way...... your bored, missing ya steed & sat in front of ya pc with ebay calling..... your T will be major bling'd by you ride it again - not that it isnt already !!!!

:)
