out for a quick spin to Bath yesterday feeling all warm and smug, thinking what a great bike etc etc etc, then it happened...
pootling through a 30 zone when all of a sudden it felt like it was starting to seize, coughed and spluttered to a halt with "service" showing and the red triangle warning light on. Like a **** i didnt have my phone on me, so after a 6 mile walk home i phoned the rac, the guy came out and he reckons its either the coil or its done a plug as it only runs on tickover on one cylinder, soon as you touch the throttle it cuts out !
Anyone else had this problem ??

Not so good DB, I've no idea whits up but I hope it's an easy fix, good luck wae it.
Try starting it again but switch it off wae the kill button and keep the ignition on, go to the menu and select diag then select (can't remember what one but it's obvious) enter 13432 and it should bring up codes for the fault.
It sounds complicated but it's not give it a go mucker.

See if your getting a spark by holding a plug in your teeth,,,,,,, sorry mate don't do that,,,,,,,,with some decent pliers against the engine somewhere and try starting it. You should see a spark, do them both one at a time. That's what I'd do to check for a spark, similar to what you'd do on a car.
That's if it is the coil or a plug, he might be talking a crock of ****. And that means I am.

Aldo, just tried your idea, wont start at all now !! Nob, bit worried about turning it over too much and not running cos of the sprag clutch..

Sorry to hear you have trouble mate , give me a shout if you need help

Cheers G, cheers Sean, mates coming round tomorrow after work with his testing gear to see if it is the coil.
If it is i think we'll probably do it ourselves, gotta get a move on cos i'm supposed to be at snetters on a trackday in a couple of weeks !!
By the way, i can't believe i've not had loads of abuse from you guys for going out without my mobile... that's a big "no no" !!

DB, who the fecks goin tae give yer abuse when yer bikes jist died on yer.

Yer a stupid FUD, take yer phone next time and **** might not happen.

Anyone fir a brolly.

Hope it's ok mucker.

Hope it gets sorted soon dave. Your bikes as tempramental as your back.

I was travelling behind a mate last year and saw something fall on the floor but wasn't sure if he'd run over a can or some litter in the road and thought nothing of it. Got to Llandovery and he went to look for his mobile in his inside pocket and low and behold it wasn't there.

Thats when I piped up I swerved to avoid something he'd run over or had dropped. When he asked did it look like a mobile phone its hard to know when you're doing about 70 to 80 what it is you're flying past. Couldn't even remember exactly where it was either on the road.

Anyway at least you haven't lost your phone and all your mates numbers.

Dave , was thinking today ( it hurt ) you bike hasnt gone into safe mode has it ?
The reason im asking is my oil pressure switch started to leak on my 07 T and it started running like it had a pit lane limiter on it , i could only do about 5mph on it , the aprilia guys said the bike goes into safe mode if it detects a problem to save any more damage being done , just a thought but worth checking mate .
Hope thats all it is , check your switch in case yours is leaking .

took the coil pack of today and the fuckers gone pop, its actually melted part of it !!
Your right Aldo, i am a prize FUD ! Lesson learned there, ALWAYS HAVE YOUR PHONE ON YOU !!

WoaH! my rear coils gone toO! over the weekend.

There £215 new, but theres some cheaper ones on eBay, remember that the early 2000 RSVR ones fit too!
