nice 1 gloin.... trust me 53 is young over here, or do i realy mean just over here...............fucknose, anyways welcome..

as fer mods (i know before yer all start, i wont go there).. just check out the forum, all answers lie within..

Hi Gloin and welcome

The great thing about this place is that there is loads of info available. That said, just get out and enjoy the bike, and have a look on here if you are unlucky to have things go wrong.

Much will depend on what the previous owner has done to the bike, and how and when you ride it. Over the winter, adjust the suspension to your weight and riding style - it seems to be quite hard as standard. Maybe fit AP rearsets if you like a rear brake, get used to doing stoppies if you are ham fisted (not gentle!) with the front brake, maybe change the gearing if you do a lot of town riding - but most of all have a hoot every time you get out on it

Well I must be a boy too then!I'm 51 later this month.:yes
Welcome Gloin to the mad world of Tuono ownership.
Gen2 Tuono's are pretty well sorted,.....well apart from non existant rear brakes, dodgy sidestands and clocks that fog up.:rolleyes

Welcome Gloin, relatively new to the Forum myself. Bought a factory version 08, 2000 miler in April after owning a Triumph 1050 tiger.
Triumph, very nice bike to ride, but a tad boring. But the Aprilia on the other hand is some mean ***** cat. Loads of grunt, excellent
riding position, a well sorted bike. Definetly needs rad grilles which I have yet to buy to avoid awful stone chip dings.
Other than that, you wont regret owning one!
As Keith B comments, side stand is a bit of a lemon, havent had the clocks fog up yet though.

Another old fart

Welcome from this recently 51 year old newbie! I too have been riding bikes pretty much since 17, got a bit bored with the jap fours and wanted to inject the 'fun' back into my biking. Best thing i ever did with my 07 Tuono :), the factory by rights should be even better! Great times ahead:thumbup

Welcome Gloin, A hit 54 on Sunday and a've got one of them 08 factory's.

Post up again on Friday and let us know if yer got the machine.

Makes you think, are T's for old bikers, as Volvos are for old car drivers?:lol

I think it's been mentioned before but you don't see a great deal of younger people out and about mostly are going grey & developing mature waistlines. Shame, really seems the younger generation have differant priorities & the Burocracy & hurdles that you have to jump through probably puts people off.

I was one of the first that went through the 125 learner legal limit & the two part test around about 1983.

I think most of the younger generation are impressed more by max speed rather than getting there in style.

Perhaps it may be because of an old view that Italian bikes are unreliable.

Additionally, you dont see many of the smaller Aprilia`s on the road. People tend to work through the various engine sizes of jap stuff before taking the plunge on a litre plus bike.

Its only then that they see the light & realise that there is more to biking than blasting along straight roads.

Hey 63 and a new Tuono 1000r Factory.Wasted 50 years on BMW's and H.D's.Not that theres anything wrong with that.

Over the yrs I've gone up and down in engine sizes, bike before the T was a 636, blade before that. Never even thought about Aprilia until in a bike shop and a mate said, thats the bike for you. Took it for a test ride, and he was right. Something special about a V twin
