I've got a 2007.5 Tuono I've had now for 2 years. I rode the Speed Triple a few times and owned a 2000 Sprint ST. The Speed Triple is a great bike and I liked the power and handling but the Tuono pretty much had more of everything I wanted....more power, lighter, narrower, exclusivity, etc. You can't go wrong with the Triumph but for me, nothing gives me the thrill I get from the Tuono.

Good choice, pikeman you wont regret it. also i think these bikes stand out from the crowd more than the usual stuff, when i was going to weston super mare bike nights there was only ever 2 or 3 Ts out of 100's of gixers and cbrzxri,age..enjoy it,ive had my gen1 for nearly 2 years[jan] it still makes me grin like a gurt big grinny thing...

They are both very very good road bikes and the decision is down to the personal choice. I don't think you would be disappointed with either.

The Speed Triple has the torquiest engine you will find on roadbike. You can let it roll down to 30mph in top and it will still stomp away. The Aprilia has the looks but probably the shoddiest spares backup of any manufacturer currently making bikes from my experience.

I still have my 1050 triple..........its a cracking bike reliable got 48000 on it now! but tuono is much more refined i think as in brakes, handlin finish that sort of thing...tourquer engine than tuono, 1050 is a easy bike to ride fast no dought about that...but its a heavy old beast compared to tuono, i will keep my 1050 as its worth nowt with that millage on lol i will be intersted in riding new shape triple to see if it really does handle sweet n agile like they say! not sure bout its looks mind...will see it at bikeshow next week, but i wasnt taken by tuono with its looks , still not really but i like the way it rides...its all personel taste i spose.

Here's pretty much what sealed to deal for me. This quote from a comparison of the Tuono and the Speed Triple says everything about why I chose the Tuono over the Triumph. If I have a need for comfort and being insulated from the world, I can always go drive my wife's Toyota Fourrunner SUV. I ride bikes to get away from all the political correctness and corporate BS that my life has become.

"The problem with this is that the UK roads are often anything but perfectly smooth, and riding the Tuono when you aren’t wanting to go mad is hard work, it’s the complete antithesis of the Triumph. From the pathetic steering lock to the heavy clutch to the harsh suspension to the slightly too brutal brakes everything about the Aprilia is geared to performance, and nothing else. It doesn’t want to gently take your hand and guide you on a trip, it wants to rip it off and run away with it! I always get the feeling that to ride a Tuono you have to be a real man, prepared to fight it every step of the way, where as on the Triumph you can have an off day and not be left feeling inadequate. "

I'd disagree with that Biker 911. The suspension on my Factory is more comfortable than the Speed Triple. That's what you are paying for with the Ohlins - trackbike performance but with roadbike comfort.

The Speed has more low down torque than the Tuono but the Tuono has more midrange from what i can tell.

I had a test ride on the new Speed Triple yesterday and was very impressed. It now has a lightness to the handling like the Street Triple.

The quality of finish is a lot better on my Tuono though.

i've ridden both, the tuono is the more sporty exciting bike, the triumph is the better road bike.

much as I like to add to the tuono clan, and don't wanna sound like a killjoy, but do you really want to buy a bike by canvassing a dedicated bike forum?

ALL bikes are a matter of opinion and preference. Might be better to test ride them yourself

Pikeman...only had tuono month or so.....but i reckon tuono will be when i get to grips with it, suspension is far better than speed trip, lighter bike ...its a faster bike i reckon over the triumph but i spose its how the person on it rides, we all know people on top notch bikes who cant ride for toffe lol
duke63 im going to ride new 1050 aswell really intereted to see it compares to my old 1050....i rode my triumph today been on tuono since i brought it, really shows how heavy n bargy 1050 was i think, this is only my opinion mind, best for people to ride them and make up there own mind...i rode the ducati SF didnt like it as much as my superduke most people would disagree i expect!

hoo could ye no like the sf evlin,,,,awesome bit o kit,,,,,,ah've gotta admit in aw the bikes ah've had its up in the top four or five, :)

Well I have to say I borrowed a SF for a day and did'nt like it either.

I'm sure with a bit of fettling that comes with ownership,it could have been better,....but not for me.

seany....i have to say engine was fantastic...v twintastic...riding postion not good for a chest shall we say...handling i wasnt over impressed with KTM was far far better...but i loved KTM dearly...only tuono has bettered KTM....but i still miss it badly i loved the nasty savage way about KTM not refined or any thing enging breaking to kill you lol...now tuono is very slick n nice...not sure thats me just yet i like filthy hooligan bikes lol but as i say maybe its just me we all have differnt oppinons of bikes...personally i find jap in lline fours boring *****, that new z1000 was ok!!! to ride i spose but still not my bag...and i didnt think its finish was good...worse than my triumph lol like one leaver adjustable other not what bollox!

Keith yes maye a bit of fetling it wouldnt have felt like it wanted to drag you through a headge:eek: im not joking it was a bit nasty i thought, wasnt the s version mind with ohlins ...but surley it should have felt better...is it me lol

Hi rusty
I accept it's a tuono forum and will have a degree of bias bit to be fair most peole who have replied here who have experienced both bikes have been honest about the relevant merrits of each. I have written both and win some views from here am going for a tuono.
