Oil

Sorry guys if this has been covered but I tried "Oil" in the search and surprised me but it said no threads??

Anyway my question is, I'm due to do an oil and filter change on my newly aquired RSV MY06 and after digging through the service reciepts its only ever had fully synthetic oil the last one being Silkolene comp 4. Now I always thought these motors were supposed to run semi synth and thats what I always put in my last 2 RSV's. Will it hurt if I stick with fully? and if I decide to change will it matter if there is still residue left of fully with semi on top? My instinct is telling me to stick with fully as the bike has covered 8k with it but my experience is saying go with semi. Thoughts on the matter please?:dunno

Tricky one really. My superduke was only supposed to ever have fully in which I always did and it used a bit of oil but on a 2500ml trip to Italy I put semi in and it never drank a drop or missed a beat. The earlier rsv I'd go semi but you'd be fine running fully untill the engine gets a bit tired and loose then maybe change to semi when it start drinking too much. You're fine mixing fully with semi

keep it fully synthetic oil mate only the best will do for our toys :thumbup:
