oil pressure light is on

hi guys! i have just brought my first aprilia it is a 2004rsv1000r and i have noticed the oil pressure light is on with the little red warning light does anyone know if this is a problem or just a faulty sensor? any comments will probably help cheers

Presumably you mean with the engine running? In which case, don't run it till the fault is diagnosed! If you bought it from a dealer I'd take it back - it may well be a failed pressure switch . . . or something more serious. Best of luck!

is it only at low revs or all the time?

I had the same issue yesterday. I pulled the lap/high beam button and turned the ignition to ON for 15 seconds and I got a fault code 47 for a bad sensor. There weren't any decently priced sensors so I ran the numbers on the sensor (956169) and apparently its the same oil sensor from a BMW F650CS. Pictures and numbers are identical and they are $25 less.
