Oil Leak - I think??

T

Hi,

This is my first post but I've been reading the forum for some months now (Excellent source of info)sorting out little problems with my RSV but I can't sort this one yet so I'm after a bit of advice. The bike is a 2006 RSVR and after a long ride I have small oil marks on the fuel tank running from front to rear. It appears that I have a leak somewhere and when riding the oil get blown past the air box and out onto both sides of the petrol tank. I have had the fairing off but can't see any leak, the oil coolers are clean, engine has no obvious leaks and the front forks have new seals so it can't be oil from there. Is there a common place for the engine to leak small amounts from which is difficult to find? :confused

Any advice welcome, thanks.:dunno

I reckon youv'e over filled it with oil and its blowing into the airbox , filling up the little site tube and thus out of the airbox.

Whip the tank up, take the lid off the air box and check. :)

To follow on from Kiwi, there is a specific method to checking the oil level, these engines are not the same as your wet sump jap fours.

Many thanks guys, I don't think its overfilled as it has only just started and I had it serviced 2k miles ago. I'll whip the airbox off and check around there. If not watch this space.

Thanks again guys!!!
