Yet again im having problems with an oil leak from the water pump seal. I replaced the water pump seals and fitted a pipe from the hole to a catch tank so i could monitor the situation. At first there was a slight weap of oil from the tell tale hole but nothing much to worry about, lowering the oil level seemed to improve things (1/2 way up the sight glass when warm just to be sure).
1000 miles since replacing the seals, the problem is much worse. If i go out for a gentle pootle around then there is no leak, but as soon as i get a little enthusiastic it starts to leak. Having just been to the TT the problem has really shown its head, leaking 50ml of oil on 2 runs over the mountain, a 40 mile run!!
Does anyone know of any reason why the engine would possibly be going over oil pressure? The reason i ask is last time i did the seals i also replaced the oil tank which had split. Im going to replace the water pump seals again and replace the shaft just to be sure even though there was no signs of wear on it last time! To make matters worse the clutch slave seal started weaping whilst at the tt so i also have that to do!
Cheers Tim
