hi people, i posted a thread 2 days ago and got a few responses thank you very much as it helped a lot! i do however have another question,i found oil in my airbox and cleaned it out and the smoking was gone. could there have been a air lock that caused all the oil to get into the box?

Hello mate, It is standard that oil goes into the airbox on these. If you look on the offside you will see a small capped off tube, this is where the eccessive oil goes. Mine had lots in it too, i changed my airbox for the open carbon hooked system, it has a pipercross airfilter and a small breather filter and the oil does not come up now and it ups the BHP and sounds awesome. Cheers Jonny

hi Jonny thx for the reply and info, could you please give me more info on changing the airbox and any other upgrades that you know off to increase the Hp on my bike. i love my v-twin and would not change it for anything but would love to increase the performance if i can.

There is lots you could do mate but to be honest, go for the hooked airbox (speak to Tash on here, extreme performance solutions) change you exhaust to aftermarket and add a PC3 with USB mapping and then live the dream, you can look at gearing too, a 16T front and 43T rear will give extra acceleration and minimal top end loss whilst using standard chain length or go 16-44T with longer chain for even more off the line but but off top end. I am fitting the 16T 43T and then off to Dyno over xmas. Ebay 2nd hand power commander (PC3) for about £120, airbox about the same, exhaust varies. Also you could speak to RedRat bike on here as he does a modified header pipe for your exhaust system for something in the region of £120 + your old one in exchange. I have not fitted one yet but am planning on doing so again over xmas standdown period prior to Dyno. Cheers Jonny

excessive oil in air box means oil tank over filled or a split in the clutch diaphragm I believe. ..... had my bike 5 years and never had to clean out oil from the air box

Worth mentioning Dr Rossi EPROMS if your not flush for a PC3 and dyno runs. Just my 2 penneth as ive nothing but good things to say about them.

i had smoking from airbox as well. the oil leaked through the airbox and was droping on the headers so it looked like i was gonna burn in flames. i sealed the airbox with silicone and no problems since then.
